Improving the LX

It appears that our SRT Engineer friends can't discuss future products, but we can. How about suggested improvements for the LX cars from us, the vehicle owners. I am not talking about gripes and moans, or generalized statements like better quality control or service. I mean actual REALISTIC (no tractor beams or surface to air missiles etc) things that could be added or improved for future vehicles. If we do this right and suggest practical improvements, make this a sticky, and refrain from expressing our concerns in a negative way, we would wind up with a punch list for the engineers, from a dedicated focus group (us) which could really lead to better '08 & '09 vehicles!

I'll start!

1. Passenger side mirror auto dim.
2. Separate dimmer switch for nav unit.
3. Lightweight spare tire. (SRT-8)
4. Parking assist in front.

I agree with #1&4. Spare tire with three other regulars on this car? even if for a quater mile.. I'd be on the cell calling AAA before I did that, or pushing the tire down to the local tire shop.

But since this is not a gripe session...

5. MP3 A/V hook-up for the front.

Don't know how people did without these things. CD players and tapes are a joke now adays. and the FM receivers just don't cut it (too much static).

I would like to see:

- an automatic night mode on the Nav unit.
- front parking sensors
- lighter materials, lighter car
- stiffer suspension (I wish there was less lean in the corners)
- some extra badging and/or more obvious differences from the other 300s.

and all that stuff would add thousands to the sticker...suddenly you're looking at the price of a 7-series...no thanks! I like em just as they are. My only wish:

Offer the nav and the satelite separately. I'm not paying for a $2000 GPS that I'll use twice a year just to get decent radio...aftermarket, here I come!

Nice idea Dan, thanks!
1. Option for a stiffer suspension.
2. Light weight spare.

How 'bout a factory radio/NAV with pre-amp outs so you can use the factory head unit (and steering wheel controls) with an aftermarket audio system? Seems like this would add only pennies, but be a boon to mankind - and I think a first in the automotive industry.

How 'bout adding the interior rear-view mirror to the auto-memory adjusting mirrors/seats/steering tilt??

How 'bout making the console cover padded leather (or at least softer)? Softer armrest material would be nice too.

I would like the dash lights to go to max. during the day (work off the day/night sensor) when the wipers (and on with wiper headlights) get activated. As it is now... during the bright hours I have to fidget with the light level... then when it gets dark, fidget again to lower the setting.

I'd also like to see a way to custom-set when the sensor turns the headlights on. Personally I think it is not sensitive enough. There are heavily overcast days when I think the lights should be on... and the sensor reads as "too bright a day to be on."

Flatrun tires, forget about the doughnut spare

More markings on SRT-8 that differentiate it from other 300s

A wood dash (many folks are doing this aftermarket already, as I did)

Touch screen or voice activated navigation screen

A larger Sun Roof or possibly a T-Roof

To lighten up, use composite/graphite materials in the body on the SRT-8

Get the tire manufacturers to make 20" snows, and couple with a winter tire storage program (dealers house summer tires for SRT-8 owners, pricing to provide winter rims and tires plus storage cost would have to be worked out, but would make for alot of happy owners who live in the north.
