Are the SRT engineers misinformed, or do window stickers lie?

Well, that is the question. I cannot find any window sticker after July that shows the US as the transmission source, only Germany. That said, the engineers said tonite that all US LXs us US transmissions.

So, whos right? AFAIK, the contents of that label are required by law. BUt I cant see the SRT guys lying. So, any info, anyone?

maybe all CURRENT production LX's use U.S. transmissions?...... My 300C has a US tranny (according to the window sticker) but my dad's SRT8 clearly shows "Germany" as the county of origin for the transmission....his was built in June '05. Maybe they switched to all US production at some point but in the past there have been US and german transmisions.

Ebay SRT-8, look for window stickers, all SRT-8s show GErmany.

Heres the poll results here

http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt...n-made-in.html

6 US, all built before July
17 Germany, all built after

Charger SRT-8 poll results

http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/...ults&pollid=39

1 US car, but thats an oddball, lxguru appears to be a DCX guy who either has an early build Charger SRT-8, or a 2005 300C.

14 other responses, all Germany

Now, non SRT LXs do appear to get a mix, but SRTs dont.

Very curious... When they answered as they did I was wondering why you didn't reveal your "scientific" findings and see what their response would be

Even if Kokomo were at a capacity, that would not explain it. All other trim levels get a mix, and on the line, the SRT is just another trim level, mixed in with the other cars. They should get a mix also, but dont.

Linda, I wold have, but I really didnt expect to have to prove it, and by the time their answer came back, it was too late, the chat was over. Time for that other poll the Charger guys asked me to make for the other models, to see what the mix in their cars is.

what if...

since mechanically it's a moot point, they're "exactly" the same...

There's always a reason. It may not be the reason you expect, but they do what they do because they have a reason.

That said, it is inconceivable that a company would import a trans from Germany when they can produce the exact same unit in Indiana!

Must be a difference! Viva le difference! (I like German parts)

Steve

1. It should be, but then why are we not seeing mixed trans, this is the answer I'm after, if the units are truly identical, then we should expect to see a mix, not exclusively German units. I just checked about 4-5 dealers inventory online, zip 20634, and it actually looks like a lot more German units out there than Kokomo, in both R/Ts and SXTs but some US ones in the mix.

2. Agreed, but what is it?

3. See, this is the only one that does make any sense, if Kokomo cant fully supply Bramptons needs, given a 3 shift shedule, then its better to import than shut down the plant.

I''m not saying anything pro or ccon about either build location. Just trying to pin down facts.

I don't think they are lying. I wonder if there is another reason they would place Germany on many of the stickers versus United States. From a supply stand point, it makes much more sense to supply from the US to a Canadian plant.

They seemed honest to me as they admitted the are cheap when it comes to the speed density system and they are PURPOSELY trying to keep aftermarket tuners out of business. Not sure the Challenger SRT8 I have a hold on is going to make it into the garage....The Magnum may leave the garage soon, too.....

What if the parts are german, they assemble 51% in Germany and then they finish it off in the US? Who knows..
