Next generation HEMI?

I hope all had a Merry Christmas! Now, a question based on a sentence from Rambit, in the other forum... but a little background on my status first. I've been reading articles from this forum for many months, and have learned a lot and I'm very appreciative of the knowledge of those who've participated. In my case, I ordered my SRT8 on January 8, 2005... I'm probably the earliest deposited order still without a car! I'm still in BX status! (Changed color to Silver Steel, which the dealer said would add to the delay). Anyway, patience has paid off, in some regard, with certain issues and options regarding the car being worked out by Chrysler. As I quickly read through the posts from the other forum, I came across this line...

"Wait till you see the next generation 6.4L Hemi. As it is, the benchmark world class HP mark is 400+, soon to be 500+. Some have already started (AMG).

Rambit"

Since I've waited so long already, I'm beginning to wonder, if Chrysler will be upping the ante, as Rambit mentioned (or was I sucked in?) If the '07 model is a slightly larger engine, I may wait to see and get this instead. Is this something really being discussed? I've personally thought about waiting for the '07 anyway, being the 50 anniversary year of the original C (my favorite car of all time).

Thanks for your indulgence.

Although this would absolutely complicate things for me, I'd say lease the SRT8 for two years, save some money, have some fun in the interim and have the option to buy (if no 6.4 comes out) or walk away from the SRT8 after the '07 model has worked out the bugs in '08.

I have no idea what's planned. I thought I'd just throw that one out there as bait in a discussion on the Challenger. They're so anti everything there. As far as I know here were no responses to it, but it does seem feasable as there are several vehicles that have already reached that benchmark.

My guess is at least a year and a half from now minimum and then you will play the waiting game all over again.

There is no such motor as a "6.4L". The "newest" Hemi is a 392 cubic incher that is being sold and marketed in crate form only. It is rumored (and only a rumor) that the new 392 will make its way into the 2008 Challenger. At this time it is NOT a production-ready engine.

The 2007 lineup of SRT-8 vehicles will all feature the current 6.1L Hemi engine...

Draw a straight line from your ass to the driver's seat of an SRT-8 ASAP. I ordered mine on March 28th and took delivery on August 24th, then started driving (14,928 miles so far). I've already had about 80 million dollars worth of fun! By the time they come out with a better engine (if ever) I'll be needing a replacement anyway!

So, kiss the family good bye, go find an SRT-8 (any SRT-8, they all ROCK!) and commence driving!

JRS,
Get the car and get it now! Are you bound by that deposit, look at some of the posts on the forum, there are cars out there, go get one. Then, if a better SRT8 happens to come out, then trade up. Happy holidays!

I've appreciated all your input! okay, on your (as well as my wife's advice), I'll continue with the current order (expect to go to d status in January). Now, this has been the benefit for me, I've learned to be patient! When the car does arrive, I'll PROBABLY PUT MORE MILES ON IT THAN A CROSS COUNTRY TRUCKER!

To all, have a great New Year!

diid you see this?

The just-announced-at-SEMA 6.4 liter version, at a historic 392 horsepower, due in 2008 with the Dodge Challenger, does the SRT-8 one better, and we'd like to know how since the extra size isn't all that much. It generates a full 505 horsepower
