Feb. R&T Long-Term 300C SRT8 Test

Page 86 has the article. They definitely like it. Negative comments were "The front end scrapes everywhere" and "it uses a lot (of fuel)". They ripped off the front spoiler on a wood-log-type parking curb and it cost them $2239 to replace it and the brake ducts and the splintered pieces of the front clip. Last comment: "It's a tough choice at the office now: SRT8 or CTS-V."

I'm sooo jealous. I wanna read it! No comments on the horrible dust problem? They didn't get squeaky brakes, either? DCX sent them a ringer!

Article

I took a loaner CTS when my SRT8 ,thinking it would be a nice comparison while my SRT8 was in for New Car services, i absolutely hated that car, very small, and just didn't have that Cadillac Impression i was expecting at all, out of place dash controls, not marked well, just thought it would be more than it was, although it wasn't the V edition. Just couldn't wait to get my 300 back. Now the 300C is a fine car, IMHO i don't see the CTS - SRT8 being even close to comparing other than similar performance,Yet comfort and luxury Totally goes to Chrysler.
I may be Bias, yet ones a Mid Size car and the other (300) isn't.
Glad i got that out Now Compare the STS-V and then you'll have a fighting chance at twice the price and still very close performance numbers.

There is a huge difference between the CTS and CTS-V, as there should be for almost $20 grand difference in price. The CTS-V had nice supportive seats and was roomy up front. The back seat was smaller. It seemed pretty luxurious to me and even came standard with Nav and sunroof. The handling and acceleration were both excellent. The exhaust sounded very healthy at idle and during acceleration. The manual sure was fun but could get old in heavy traffic. In the end I thought the 300C SRT-8 was sweeter and a better value. I had also read complaints about the rear tires wearing out in less than 10k miles and that the rear end was not very strong.

Yea but same small boring interior,...and just the overall looks to me aren't as nice as the 300C SRT-8.....not to mention the weak rear axles breaking

You read it right, because it cost me about the same. That price also includes the front fascia cost, which needs to be replaced as well because it rips at the bottom. That piece needs to be sturdy or you can't get the chin spoiler to bolt on properly. $$$$...

In fairness to Cadillac you really can't compare a regular CTS to a CTS-V; just as you can't really judge a 300C-SRT8 by driving a "regular" 300C.

But I do agree with you; at least the "regular" C has lots of power (just not as much as the SRT) and it's a top notch car in every way; The regular V6 powered CTS is not even close to a 300C (5.7) yet it costs MORE!! wtf??

I think the STS-V is going to be a helluva car (for a GM product ) but as you said it will be WAY more money than a 300C-SRT8.

i concur on the comparing apples and oranges thing. i would never buy a non-SRT 300 (especially if it wasn't even a C), and i wouldn't even think about a non-'v' cadillac. they may be the same base car, but they are light-years apart from the flagship models.

Re "Horrible Dust" -- Ive owned a 320 hp 4050 lb BMW 740i , best stopping sedan in its year and class and the brake dust is like pollen - never stops . But it stops on a dime , but not in time for a cat.
