Stage II Jet chip dyno vs. dyno w/o chip

In September, I dynoed the CSRT8 with the Stage II Jet chip installed. At that time, I had the Mopar CAI and the Magnaflow catback on the car. The car dynoed at 388.5 rwhp and 384.6 rwtq. Here is the link: http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt...o-results.html

I hope I posted the link correctly. If not, you can search under my screen name.

Today I dynoed the car in the exact same configuration except I took out the Jet chip. The ambient air temp was about 62*, about 26* cooler than in Sept. The car dynoed at 382.2 rwhp and 378.9 rwtq. The dyno runs were on the same dyno with the same dyno operator. I ran a second dyno with almost the exact same numbers. What I did notice was with the chip the A/F ratio remained flat throughout the run whereas w/o the chip the A/F ratio dropped from about 12 to 10 between 5500 and 6000 rpms.

What does all this mean? Heck, I don't know but until someone comes out with a programmer, the Jet chip goes back in the car. I'll take the extra 6 hp.

More like 12 horsepower when you account for the temperature difference, eggr. Unless your dyno operator factored that variable into both results at the time of the runs.

Even if there were no horsepower gain shown on the dyno, which of course there was, the greatly increased driveability the Jet Chip provides is, itself, well worth the price of admission. Both the engine and transmission are tweaked to approach perfection with the absence of throttle and tranny lag. The pure pleasure of driving factor goes up immensely with the chip.

Meister,

I would have to agree that the hp difference between the two runs is probably about 12 hp due to the colder outside air temp. I believe in the chip. It's going back in tonight.(I took it out prior to taking it to the Dealer for an oil change).

I like mine too. It stays in until the Superchips programmer arrives.

In the meantime, Tom, you, and countless others, have been missing out on the single finest contributor to driveability available for the LX platform.

And there will be no shortage of buyers for these proven Jet Chips at $150 vs. the much higher tariff for the programmables, IMO.

Doubtful....Jet Chips have never made it into the main stream with GM and Ford guys for a reason......

Also, this BS about 12hp is just that, 12hp BS. Unless you are reporting SAE corrected numbers, the numbers you put down on a given day are only valid for the day and set of conditions. That is why the Dyno gives numbers corrected to SAE conditions and those are the numbers you should be looking at.

Apples and oranges.

Mass airflow vs. AIT.

It works in the LX bodies.

I reinstalled the Jet chip last night. I will put 200 miles on it in the next few days and put it back on the dyno. The weather conditions should not change in that time. I will then take the chip out and run it back to back. That is as close a comparison as I can get. Let's see what the results are. I'll try and get it done on Friday. I'll post the results.

eggr,
hmmm...
sorry to hear the low hp...
it'll get better...
also...
my SRT tested the strongest out of all the ones Dyno'ed at Magnaflow...
so I might have one of the higher hp's around...
also note...
I have both the cat-backs and the high flow cats...
really makes a difference in the overall hp gain...
as we went from 374 to 397 by two bolt ons...

it'll come to you...
wait luke...
feel the force...
