18 inch wheels and TPM issues

I have been trying for the last 2 months to have my 18 inch winter wheel amd tire package sucessfully set-up with TPM's.

To date, depite more than 5 visits to the dealer from whom they were purchased - no luck. Apparently, my service manager stated that he contacted the folks at tire rack who supposedly told him that they haven't sold any TPM's with their 18 inch wheels to date. Therefore, my dealer has concluded that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get TPM's to work on any wheels other than the stock 20 inch size.

Personally, the recurrent alarm chimes and flashing lights on the dashboard every 5 minutes drives me crazy! Does everyone who has the Borbets' (or any other 18 inch wheel) on their SRT-8 simply put up with the chimes? Or has someone actually found a TPM that works with that size? Alternatively, can I disable the alarms?

Thanks for any advice.

I have the 18" Borbet Type TS wheels (with snow tires) sitting in a stack in my garage. They have the TPMs from Tire Rack. But it keeps raining here and staying so warm that I've held off installing them. I was wondering how to initialize the SRT8's monitoring system to the new transmistters in the Borbet wheels. Sounds like it won't be easy. I'll let you know how mine work if it ever gets cold enough here in New Jersey.

According to the service manual, all you have to do is drive the car for more than 10 minutes at > 15 MPH.

Thanks for your advice. Hopefully there will be some snow in NJ soon!

To ruco469 - when you indicated that there was no problems, did you install new 20 inch , 22 inch or 18 inch wheels.

In my case, after the initial install, the TPM's worked properly for one day, then I lost the right side of the car readings, the next week, the left side.

The dealer tried change the wheels from the right to left first, then they changed the TPM's and then finally the receivers before they threw in the towel.

I have a set of Borbet (tire rack) wheels and snow tires on my 06 csrt-8. The tpms work great and the car performs very well on the snow and ice. I live in Park City and we have a lot of snow!
