Oil wrench

I changed the oil the other day and it would be much easier to have the 'end cap' that goes onto the filter then connects to a ratchet. I took my filter down to the local store and none had one big enough. Anyone know what size we need?

I have a Flotool "Super Graphite" #1 (size) oil filter "end cap"type wrench. I picked it up at the local Autobarn store several years ago. Just took a filter off the shelf and tried all the wrenches 'til I found one that fit.
BTW: Our filter probably has the most common diameter of all oil filters in North America. I can't believe it would be too difficult to find.

I just looked at mine and the markings are not legible. Like previously mentioned, I went to an auto part store and just matched it up....however, I was at the third store before I found one in stock.

I bought mine before the first oil change because of posts recommending that type. Unfortunately, the orginal oil filter was on so tight the "wrench" just slipped and I had a bear of a time breaking it loose with other tools. Subsequent oil filter changes have been no problem even though I tighten the filter about a quarter turn beyond what is recommended.

Just keep a filter in your trunk and stop by stores when convenient and, sooner or later, you will find one.

Wow, I just bought one for our MSRT8 a few months back and I already can't read the numbers off of it...Sorry. I just called a local Autozone and asked if they had one to fit the application(gave them our 2004 Ram info since the filters are the same and they didn't have 2006 SRT8s listed).

If they list Mopar filters in the application guide look for the last 4 digits, 1090. This is the filter for all 300s, V6 and V8.
