Seat protector

I have a car seat in the back and the edges of it sit on the leather.
Over time from the weight it will crease and make the seat look bad. Anyone have any suggestions on what to put underneath?
I was thinking a small blanket but that may look cheesy.
Any input welcome

You may want to consider some type of drawer liner. They are perforated and come in different colors i.e. black, white or tan. They feel like they have a rubber texture. They are also used under throw rugs. I believe you can buy them at Home Depot or Lowe's. They would probably hold the child seat in place as well as protect the leather.

DO NOT use these drawer liners on your leather seats!! These things are great for drawers and cabinets, but they DO bleed dye and may stain your leather.

You are best off putting down a nice blanket for this purpose. Also, they make some nice whole seat covers that are designed to protect them from pets. These things are also waterproof, which with kids is always a good thing.

We have 2 of 'em, well they're booster seats now, and we put a folded large bath towel under each one. It looks all right. It also keeps some of the crumbs off the seat when the kids eat there.

When kids are involved, washability is very important!

While I do not have a suggestion for what to use I can tell you not to use anything like a cloth or blanket, or anything else that small particles can penetrate. I had a 97 Camaro Z-28 (white w/ hugger orange stripes, white leather) and I put cloth car seats on them. After about 4 months I took the car seats off to clean them and the leather and the dirt that got through wore away the leather like sand paper. I am not pig pen and I keep my cars clean (well the front seats anyways) this was just everyday fine particles getting through and the cars natural vibration doing its work. I brought it to an upholstery shop and was told that it will happen everytime with seat covers over leather.

Just MY experience.

Good advice Scott!
My tip included a piece of closed cell foam under a flokati rug to protect from permanent indentations, but it would prevent your situation from occurring too, just need to make sure the seat is clean before laying it down.

Any type of seat cover poses a risk to your expensive leather. My children are older now and live far away, but I always had great success transporting them in roof mounted carriers, such as the Sears "X-Cargo". They are constructed of light weight plastic, to prevent any "messes" from dripping onto your roof, and they can be locked to prevent any sicko from stealing your precious offspring. The larger model will hold up to three small kids, according to the ad on the box! Of course, for longer trips, you should provide fresh air ventilation.
I used to use the trunk until the car makers started installing those "inside trunk release" cords. I don't know what the manufacturers were thinking when they came up with THAT one!! Go figure, they put child proof features on the rear doors so junior can't open them, but they give 'em carte blanche when it comes to opening the trunk from the inside!!
