Should I be concerned?

I'm really enjoying my 06 300C srt8 but I did'nt realize all the attention this vehicle generates. Are SRT8's prone to being stolen? I'm considering a alarm system, is this a waste of $$$?

I have considered all of those options as well. I actually had Lojack installed as soon as I bought it. They have 2 different packages to offer. One around $900, and the other around $1100. I can help but think that it is the best investment, especially for me, plus you get a break on your insurance as well. Living in San Diego, too close to the border, and they could get there within 15 minutes with this car!

Isn't whatever generates that flashing red light on the dashboard when the car is off, an alarm system?

I'm not saying LoJack is bad, and I have no experience with it, but I'll say a couple things that came to mind. First, if someone steals the car and gets across the border, would law enforcement really be able to recover it?
Second, in some cases it might be better if the car was not recovered. Imagine someone steals your car, joyrides it, maybe takes the rims and some other pieces, then dumps it in a wash or bangs it up and trashes it. If it is recovered then you have to deal with all the crap to get it repaired and cleaned and parts replaced. If it is never recovered then the insurance company gets you a new car. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of LoJack and insurance could tell me if these are valid points.

Yes, there is an alarm system built-in to all 300C SRT8s. It's just not very robust. There is no motion sensor and the alarm will only go off if a door is opened, and maybe the trunk. If someone breaks a window it will not go off.

Alarm was my first mod. I wasn't taking any chances. Low Jack across the border won't help the cops, but if it were me, the mercenary team I'd hire to take the perps out would use it to locate the soon to be crab food car thief. The SRT-8 alarm is ok, but not a real deterent. Also its not easy to steal the 300's without a flatbed, due to the programmed keys. The level of thief that could steal your car, is going to be targeting top end vehicles with higher resale value on the parts black market. I wouldn't be too worried, but its not the car being stolen that I am worried about, it's vandals or someone trying to do a smash and grab that has me more worried.

I put a viper paging alarm system in mine.Glass shock sensor , ignition kill , the works.I dont know the exact range of the pager , and I know this is far from fullproof , but It's got to help.If the alarm goes off it shows a hammer breaking glass windshield on your LCD on the keychain. This system, lojack , a rottweiler perhaps ? Good luck.

The car itself without any alarm mods is a tough one to take for a simple joyride. If a true car thief takes my car I don't want it back. I'll take the insurance money and eat the deductable and depreciation rather than have the car brought back to life after whatever they'll do to it.

SpeedyGee,
buzz me sometime...
glad to see another SRT8 owner in San Diego come out of the woodwork...
tired of seeing guys on the road...
wave to them...
and have them ignore you...
Let me know if you ever want to get together and compare notes.
Sincerely,

The version of Lojack that I purchased, calls your cell phone, or whatever number you want as soon as your car is moved.
