Cold air.

Hey guys, I want to install a K&N air intake system in my srt-8. I called Chrysler and they told me that the only way it would void my warranty on my engine is if they find out that a problem resulted directly from the aftermarket air intake. Now this scares me alittle, what do you guys think????? Is there any way a K&N air intake system can screw up my car?

thanks

I know I don't have a SRT8 but I think its a brand thing. My dealer parts manager told me if I bought Mopar performance parts that they would not void my warranty, then proceeded to give me a sheet showing the Mopar CAI, Headers, Cat-Back, and Coilovers and I asked again about the warranty and he said Mopar performance parts dont void the warranty. I may get all the above if thats the case and he even has competitive pricing. I will insist on having it in writting though.

My dealer said it would Void it, so i guess my question is... can a air intake system screw up a car at all?

Probably NO, but if the dealer opens the hood and see anything they can use to there advantage they will try. If your engine fails after you install the CAI and the dealer says it was due to the increased air flow from the CAI then you are stuck with the burden of disproving them, good luck. The best thing to do is find a dealer who will work with you and get it in writting if you are going to mod. Do this ask your dealer if you use a Mopar CAI will it void your warranty and see what they say. Mopar is DCX replacement part vendor and most dealers will even honor the performance parts mods. Check it out.

Most dealers (if not all) will sell and install them for you.

Don't buy one, it's just not worth risking your warranty. The only reason I have one on my car was to have a secure place to screw in the nitrous nozzle.
