Wink Worth the price of admission!!!!!!

I got the chance to spank my first rice rockets today!!! Two younger guys side by side at a red light, one in a souped up Subaru WRX( I am behind him) the other in a modified Honda, both reving their motors ready to dump their clutches, and spontaneously I get this anxious feeling in my stomach and my hands begin to sweat, I turn down the radio.......SHI%..........I am going to eat these two for lunch and they don't even know it! The light turns green, tires screech and I swerve to get around the Subaru WRX, velocity is brewing very quickly as both of them appear in my rear view mirror, I smell victory after hearing what appears to be a sonic boom coming out of my tailpipes.................take that you two . Ahhhhhh the feeling of so much power..............Stay tuned!!!

How long did it take you to get around the WRX? Those things can be fast if moded correct.

Actually WRX's are a piece of cake. WRX STi's prove much more difficult. I ran an STi in my CTS-V from a roll. Started at 40mph and ran to 100+. I got about a car length on every shift but nothing more. Ended up being 3 car lengths ahead at 100+. In reality though, it would've really gotten worse over 100. High speed is not their bag. Going from a dig they'll embarrass you EVERY time.

As well they should, being AWD....*IF* they know how to drive it. I had to opportunity to line up against a worked up STi on the way home from picking up my MSRT8--he chased me down to get next to me.

Bad idea--real bad. Like, a solid eight cars by 80 MPH (when I let off)

I don't know who was more surprised--him, or me.

When I said WrX, I was reffering to the Sti's..... The WRX is a junker..... no offense.... however, the Sti's are nice.... a lil highschool'ish, but still nice.... And I was assuming that he raced a STi....

Anyone know what those do in the quarter mile, stock (WRX STI)? I have been dying to eiter pull up to one of those or a new Mustang. I can't seem to find anything, that will play. I had a stock 2005/6 GTO (yellow) pull up to me the other day and I thought for sure we were going to go for it. The street was big and completely open. For some reason he just would not go for it. I must have wasted a gallon of gas just trying to taunt him. BTW I like to win but I really don't care, I just like to see how things play out from car to car. Usually make freiends afterwards, too.

CVP33, how did the SRT8's do against your 'V'? I noticed you had that thing spanked up a bit.

Moose.

The SRT-8 is very easy to launch vs. the V. The SRT will easily take a V off the line. Once rolling though you'll have a fight on your hands. The V's a 6 speed and most experienced drivers know where the sweet spot is for each gear. And frankly if your not quite in the gear you need to be you can always slip the clutch to get and keep the rev's up. 3rd gear in the V is deadly and hard to beat. Very comparable to driving just under 60mph in the SRT-8, slamming the gas and getting the auto to downshift and launch up to triple digits.

The V is a true driver's car and takes tons of practice to drive properly and quickly. An auto is damn near idiot proof so the odds are in your favor you'll beat an average driver everytime. Launching the V is more art than science and getting all 5 shifts done quickly, on time, with a proper clutch slip and launch is damned near impossible.

I have noticed that, V's being very quick and jumpy...meaning they launch ahead and then fall slightly behind. Just when you think you're pulling away, that sucker jumps back on you. I ran one from the start and I hit rev limiter (1-2)and he got me. We went again at 5 mph, I paid attention and took it. I did notice there was a little bit of a gap between gears for him. That really helped me

I was wondering about the one you posted photos of a few days ago. That thing looked quite "tuned in" if you will. I guess what you are saying is - even moded it is not consistent.

Anyone else on the (track) times for the WRX STI's??? Quarter mile. Am I wasting my time?

Moose.

Roughly 13.3-13.5 quartermile times and trapping at 100-102mph. Not a waste of time. Quite fun actually.
