Angry My car was christened this weekend!

Alright, we went to Reno/Tahoe for the weekend and everything was good. As soon as we left Sunday evening we found ourselves in a nasty rain/wind storm. Traffic was still moving nicely until we hit Sacramento. Traffic comes to a complete stop so I stop, unfortunately, the person behind decides to let my car slow them down! It gave us big jolt but luckily nobody was injured. The rain was still coming down hard so we got soaked exchanging info. It was some chic in her early 20s driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee. Amazingly a couple cops showed up within 10 minutes that just happened to be coming down the road. When I got out to inspect the damage I was surprised to see that the rims were perfectly clean and shiny even though they hadn't been washed in 700 miles! That's some hard rain.
The only damage I'm aware of is on the bumper. It has some cracks and bulges where her bumper hit it. I took it yesterday for an estimate and the total is $888.64, but not out of my pocket. It'll take 4-5 days to get the part and 2 days in the shop.

What a total bummer. I hope the repairs go very well and you cannot tell anything after it's done. Good luck.

Oh how I hate to hear these stories... I'm always afraid to open the thread and read on.
I'm so happy to hear no one was injured, and you'll have time to get her healed before you come down for Spring Fling!

Ouch.

Make sure that you get the chassis inspected meticulously to be sure there is no damage beyond the bumper. Assume there is further damage and make the inspection prove that there is not. If there is you want to know now rather than later.

This is a time to be very tough, look on the dark side not the rosy side. Good luck.

I had a similar experience last month. It was misty raining and the car in front stopped short. I jammed on the brakes and would have stopped, but I was rear ended and pushed into the rear of the car in front. I thought the damage to the front was going to be worse than the rear, but the only damage was to my license plate. Similar to what someone else on the forum reported to their plate. The rear bumper needed some work, but I had it done by a great shop. The worst part was having to drive a light blue Toyota Camry for 3 days.

The car that hit me was a Mercedes SLK350 Roadster. The best damage to his car was a 3" hole in his hood from my exhaust pipe. I wish I had a picture.

The car in front was a 20year old Mercedes driven by a 20 year old driver and his friend. There was probably more damage to my car from their drool than there was by the accident. They were all over the car.

You could say that I was the Cream of the Mercedes sandwich.
