Engine wont start

After driving home from work last night, I parked my '06 SRT8 in my driveway for about 20 minutes. I came back out to drive, attempted to start the car and the tach just spun like crazy while the engine would crank over but not start. At first I thought it may be an electrical issue but I've confirmed that its not the battery and its not a fuel issue. Again the engine turns over just fine but it won't start. The car has 7000 city miles (los angeles). Could this be a software problem? I recently discovered the EVIC displays. It is possible that something was changed in the software and now the engine wont start?

BTW, be aware that when you call DCX roadside service, they do not send flat-bed trucks. Watching an old tow truck pinching those beautiful wheels is extremely painful.

Not sure what the issue is but are you the guy I met at the car wash on Sepulveda?

Dose it try to start then doesn't that happen to me . The anti-theft system failed an I could not start my car. This was last year and it took the dealer a weak to get the part in and fix it.

I had the same problem, the car only had 110 miles on the car. I tried both keys but the car would only start for 2 or 3 seconds. I had the dealer come and pick the car up. I don't know what they did, but they kept it overnight. I have had the problem again. But I do have another problem. Sometimes when I go to start the car, it'll yurn over for a few seconds then start. I barely have 6k on the car.

When that problem happened, did the remotes quit working also, and did the little red "dot" (anti-theft) light stay on steadily (near the fuel gauge)??

The light did stay on. The dealer couldn't understand it at first. I think they may have re-flashed the car and the keys.

Interesting that this seems to not just happen to me. Try this...

Next time it happens (if, I guess) go into the rear power center and pull fuse #14, then start the car. I found this by educated guess and a little trial and error (I thoroughly believe that there is always a "back door" for servicing purposes, and in this case I was right.) Mine started right up--and *stayed* running, red light went out, remotes worked. I popped the fuse back in while it was running, and haven't had the problem since. Good luck...
