Who cleans the inside of their SRT8 wheels?

Who here is so particular about cleanliness that they regularly clean the 'inside' of their rims? If any of you go to this extreme could you explain how you accomplish this (i.e. tools, methods, etc)?

I certainly do and I'm pretty anal about it. After cutting myself numerous times on the sharp spoke edges using just a rag, I find using a lamb's wool (remove lamb first) mitt will allow just enough room to get in there. Sometimes you have to partially remove the mitt for the really tight areas. I use this mitt exclusively for the wheels only and use a bucket of car wash soap for the cleaning. I do it often so dust buildup is not a problem. I spray the wheels as best as I can to remove the major crud before washing. I have gotten my hand trapped in there from time to time, but if you slip your hand out of the mitt then pull the mit out it's fine. Pressure washers will remove almost all the dust, but don't get in behind the spokes very well.

The hand car wash that I go to uses a pressure washer for the wheels, which as Rambit stated does a nice job at getting rid of a lot. The rest I do simply with a rag, and my hands take a beating each time. It's a somewhat twisted tribute and labor of love which my car fully realizes/appreciates and repays me every time I drive it.

too bad this thing doesn't come with an extended attachment. It would work perfect if it did. I wonder if something could be prefabbed easily to make a workable attachment for cleaning our inside rim surface.

Talking I do (sorta)

I have an annual pass to my favorite Car Wash (Cobblestone at FLW & 101) and the hard working guys there clean the inside of all of my wheels, every time I am there (every 1-3 days usually). Then every time I put on a new set of tires (every 60 days or so) I clean the inside of the rims before the wheels go back on the car!

ok...
here we go...
brake dust...
how to clean...
Meguiar's - Hot Rims - cool care - ALL wheel Cleaner
Spray on WET rims...
let sit for 15-20 seconds...
use a EXTENDED soft bristle brush sold at every automotive store I have been in so far... (Napa, Kragen, Pep Boys, Etc.)
by using the extended brush...
you can clean the inside of your rims...
here the plastic on the handle being scrapped and shaved off by the rims as you work the brush on the interior of the rim...
and have the ability to look down at your hand and smile the whole time that you finally outwitted "them"...
you'll be amazed at how great they look when you do this...

oh, the bottle comes in a clear purple color trigger type spray bottle...
unless you are VVV90 and it is really a very PINKISH purple...

back on a serious note - the cleaner does NOTHING to the rims clearcoat finish...

Hope this helps...

Sincerely,

I am nuts about my rims too.I use Mother FX first, safe for all wheels,Wash off, then what ever I miss I use mequers car soap, wash mit & spounge with a 12 inch handle that you would use to clean tall drinking glass.I just purchesed the power ball by mothers and that has an extention on it so you could use a cordless drill. This should cut the time in half & give more time to DRIVE.
Hope this helps

easy

all you need is a 55,000 dollar Butler System that can generate HOT high pressure water. A quick spray with some cleaner, we use a blend of 3, a blast of hot water and clean as heck inside and out. Cleaned in record time with excellent results.

Nope....I use the pressure washer on the inside as best I can, but I don't reach in there. I find that I'm able to strip all the dust from about 1/3 of the inside with the pressure washer...since the wheels are in a different position every time, I'd guess that each part of the inside gets done at least 3 times a month, probably once a week (I spray the wheels every other day). I guess I could pull the car forward 18" and do it again...twice. That would get the whole thing with the sprayer.

I, too, find that the meguiar's hot rims works extremely well. I use that once a week to get a really really good clean on the rims. Blasting them with hot high pressure water every 2nd day and giving them a good proper cleaning with the meguiar's every week works for me.

I gave up almost immediately on getting even medicore results (on the wheels) from drive through car washes (touchless!)....and they don't do well on the rest of the car, either. If I pull out and park, then run a clean towel over the car, it comes up black after the drive through. A "full" service place (they vacuum the car, send it through a much better drive through, then do the drying and windows by hand, inside and out...for 3 times the price) does a bit better, but still is mediocre on the rims. I guess I'll have to continue to do them myself.

Of course, once I move someplace where I actually have an external water faucet, I'll do it all myself...except for the occasional detailing job for special occasions. I'll still pay for that once or twice a year.

Feel sorry for you guys with 10+ spokes (or how ever many). With the Charger SRT 5 spokes It's easy to just get all the way to the inside lip and behind the spokes with a mitt.
