Now many of you hit the rev limiter going from 1st - 2nd (WOT)?

I've seen some threads where people mention hitting the rev limiter on the wide open throttle 1st to 2nd shift. I'm trying to get a feel for how wide spread this is because it's starting to get annoying. I don't think I can ever go flat out and have the car make a smooth shift from 1st to 2nd gear without the motor cutting out because of the rev-limiter.

It's starting to become a pain.

I only have had it happen in D when the car shifted to second at low speed then I went wot and it shifted back to first, then hit the rev limiter. Never happened when wot from slight rolling start (hasn't yet shifted to second).

Had the flash, still did it a couple of times, but lately has been shifting wonderfully.

I have about 2800 miles on the car.

I was expecting to have this happen to my car after reading about it here over the months, but it doesn't do it. It just hauls azzz and shifts right into second smooth as butter.

AS for my shifting, its not as smooth as butter, but you do feel the shift.
When I take ESP off, its a little bit more smoother, but still noticable.
I told the dealer about this twice and all they can do is flash the system, nothing more.
TByrne, you got something up your sleeve or what......

I 100% have this problem, i attempted to have the TSB applied but they refused because of the date of manufacture and software version. Im a 10-05 build.

Yes its very annoying, you can avoid it by shifting manually but we shouldnt have to make excuses for a car of this caliber.

still waiting for a fix....

You are right, there are many threads on this, tbyrne. In short, I found that there is such a lag between one actually moving the shifter to the right, and the car actually making the shift. Therefore, when you go past, say 5,600 RPM and then make the shift...its too late and you will hit the rev limiter. I did several test runs, and everytime I shifted at 5,300 RPM @ WOT the actual shift came at 6250 hence perfetion and no hesitation. Give it a try and report back

Moose.

I think this is an SRT question.
The Flashpaq has eliminated those issue in my C, you guys should be next.

Some of you guys are just too negative. The glass is actually half full. The delay between first and second gear at WOT in my SRT8 is sooo long, I now see it more as a feature than a problem. It gives me time to make final adjustments on my seat and mirrors, check Sirius for the day's news, weather and sports, and get a good start on a cup of coffee and a sandwich. If it shifted too crisply I would have to pay more attention to my driving.

I agree with Moose, and several others here, that you can get the timing down with practice, but I've never driven any other car where you hit the shifter at 5400 RPMs so the tranny will shift 850 RPMs higher. It is odd, but workable.

LOL....classic.
Mine has the delay 80% of the time...drives me nuts.
My MSRT8 is a 10/05 build too.
In the past, the ECM updates I've done (BMWs) have caused more damage than good.
Not sure which is the best plan of attack.
