Poll: Were you here a year ago, waiting on an SRT-8?

Well - it's been a year. Who is still here? Who is new?

I know exactly where I was- I was talking to my dealership about getting a 2005 SRT8. Then I was told the new 2006 would be easier to get (HAHA!) if I waited until they went on sale. I can't remember when they first appeared (2006 model) on the Chrysler site- but I did place my order soon after. The rest of the story may be found HERE.

Was here well over a year ago. Had a deposit on an SRT8 (along with 50 others at the same dealer). Waited for 8 months, nothing happened. No car, no info from dealer, and lots of frustration. Got deposit back and said, "F" it. Peeped around different dealers for a few months and got even more mad at the $15,000 markups. Kept looking here and there and finally found one at a good deal in Feb. 06. Whew, what a year!

I was here well over a year ago. We had plans to purchase a 300C at that time and I was waiting patiently for a little of the over MSRP to come down to MSRP.....then, a bunch of moving took(we relocated and then my wife's job relocated us again) place and next thing I know, we rented a Magnum SXT on our California trip last June and the Magnum was the only way to go for us. Called WoodHouse Dodge and bought our SRT8 last June 30th, I think, and picked it up July 3rd. No real plans to purchase a SRT8 until they announced them and even then it wasn't really the plan...

I wasn't looking for a car a year ago. But in about August 05 my 1983 Benz 380SL started developing problems that took longer than usual to fix. I still have it and it's still at the mechanic's house, by the way. He has 5 or 6 Benzes and BMWs that he's working on parked around his house at all times.

So I finally realized I would have to get a more reliable car and looked at a 300C. I had no awareness of SRT8, my local dealer didn't have one in stock and didn't mention anything about it, but I joined this forum and that's how I found out. Got an SRT8 at the very end of 2005.

First post was 1/25/05 after reading the Motor Trend comparo between the SRT-8, GTO and CTS-V. At the time I was in the process of negotiating the purchase of a modified '03 Z06. I knew about the SRT-8 since August of '04 but didn't think it would be a reality anytime soon. It was a chance trip to the magazine isle in the supermarket where I saw the Motor Trend cover. It was over for the Z06 and hello SRT-8 from that moment.

Ordered on 2/1/05. Placed a second order with a different dealership on 2/6 I believe, because after obsessing over allocation for a few days it was apparent that the first dealership would not be getting allocation anytime soon. Had to cancel both orders in March because of some rocky situations at work. Sad sad day.

Here we are in January '06, work is good, not satisfied with not owning an SRT-8, so I put dibs on one inbound to the dealership I placed my second order with in '05. 5 days later I was driving the car. Loving every minute of it.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Dan

I heard it was announced in August 04 in Pebble Beach, but couldn't do anything about it till they started writing orders up. I put $1000 down in Dec 05 and wrote up the deal even though US pricing wasn't announced till Jan 3rd. My dealer faxed my order in Jan 3rd and Canadian pricing was announced about 3 weeks later. Got it for MSRP and it came in on the 17th March, complete with grunt's signature on the ABS pump. One year later and it's still under 3000 miles. Soon to be greatly increased after the M & G is history!!!

I was lurking. Posted a couple of times, but nothing worth noting or repeating. Two CTS-V's (2004, 2005), 6 rear differentials, two transmissions, two NAV systems, two radiators, two half shafts, one clutch, one pressure plate, one slave cylinder, one PCM and one sunvisor later I'd had enough of Cadillac and decided to make a change. I've never been happier with a vehicle. 4,000+ near trouble free miles and she's a hoot to drive.
