Random musings

Respect from a ricer?!? It actually happened. At a stoplight this riced up civic saw the 300C badge on the side of my car and wanted to go...now, he's an idiot, because there was a patrol car 40m back, ticketing somebody, or else I'd have been happy to put the fear of MOPAR into the little dude. So instead, I held up my SRT hat for him and threw a rev. He looked at my wheels (yeah, see the SRT badge and the brembos peeking out?), looked back at me, and shut her down. When the light changed, he pulled out so slow that a mack truck would have burned him....that's right, kid, tail tucked! And don't come back till you get a real car. Somehow, that was more satisfying than putting carlengths on him....

Man, am I glad it's spring. So much meat out there on the road for us to munch on. A month ago, I was wondering if I'd be limited to a diet of rustangs and subies. Within five minutes of backing down that honda, I smoked a 5-series (hey, he started it, not that there was any challenge) and saw a vette (C5, base, but could still be fun) pull into my neighborhood

Oh, and what is it about a nice looking car (even if two of them are chick cars, and I would mercilessly abuse any male I caught driving one) that makes a barely average woman HOT? In the last two weeks, I've seen mediocre looking women driving a gold eclipse spyder (top down, hair flying), a miata, and that vette I mentioned above...and was strangely attracted....and not in a beer goggles sort of way.

Oh, and my MOPAR sticker...the one they're selling at SRTTE...best $10 I ever spent. It gets as many comments as the car itself. Odd. I wasn't expecting that.

Finally, sitting in huddle house this morning, watching people check out my car out in the lot, I noticed something else. The harley sitting next to my car got three times as much attention. Funny how the same people who look down their noses at "bikers" can't help admiring their bikes when they think nobody's looking.

Love to read about the ricer! We have sooooooooo many of those down here with their fart can mufflers! They all seem to be under the impression that they have tons of horsepower. (I know some do- but most do not)

Funny about checking out your own vehicle. Yesterday I was passing a very large mirror type office building and I had to check out my ride going down the road. It’s from an angle we usually don’t see while driving. I had to quickly stop gawking as traffic was coming to a stand still. Fun while it lasted- great eye candy!

Hmm....I just got done checking out the challenger and imperial as shown at NAIAS. Seems to me that if you combine the two...you get a 300cSRT8...

Seriously, the imperial looks to me like sick offspring of a crossfire and a 300. with the trunk of a mid-80s cadillac....oh, and it's FREAKIN 18 feet long?!? My God, where would you park it? No wonder the 22" wheels look like 17s... The only thing I really liked were the doors (especially how the handles meet in the center) and the interior...although I'd rather have an ultraplush bench in the back than bucket seats...you know, like the back seat of a 5th Avenue, only with more upscale materials.

All I can say about the challenger is...If I wanted a coupe for under $50k, that't the one I'd buy, hands down. But since my rocketship has to be a daily driver...I need 4 doors and an automatic...which means I'm already driving my dream car and need to quit drooling all over every concept that comes along.
