Brake upgrade

I am looking to replace the rotors and brake pads on my SRT8.. looking for suggestions.. not looking to upgrade to stoptek.. Looking for some cross drilled rotors and maybe some hawk pads to cut down on the dust and of course scoring of the rotors.. Help appreciated..

Blech...why would you want to go and do that? Cross-drilled rotors? Why would you want to trade in some performance for looks?

And FYI...the only way to do anything to our brakes ATM is to replace the entire system, a la Stoptech....the aftermarket just hasn't taken notice of our needs yet. So no replacement pads.

Because I have already had my rotors and pads replaced from the dealer and I am still getting the squealing, excessive dust and groved rotors.. If I can replace the rotors and pads with something aftermarket that gets rid of this why not?

what for?

virtually anything you do will REDUCE brake performance. Be careful, as the SRT team gave you the best performing brakes possible. When a huge heavy sedan stops quicker than most sports cars that are a thousand pounds lighter...

If you have squeeling, you simply have not used your brakes hard enough. Note that I have almost 8000 miles and not a peep out of mine. That's because I use them, shall we say, vigorously. And regularly. Yes, they're a little "groovy". But they are FANTASTIC brakes. Full race conditions with no fade! In a 2 ton sedan!

The dust? Get used to it. I can show you 100K Mercedes with dusty rims like ours. And they don't stop as good!!!

Patience is a virtue, there is a fix in the "pipeline", wait and see.

I finally have my software! Happy Diablo owner.

My Favorite "old car"... 73 Super Duty 455 Trans Am - 13.08 @109 mph when brand new! Just try and find one now!

too bad it's a 1/2" pipe trying to pass a 20 gallon solution....gonna take some time, I'm thinking. But I can wait. I just hope it's out before I have to get rid of my extra car. I hate loaners and I really hate rentals.

I agree with absolutely everything above -- except perhaps the part about needing to use the brakes hard. I don't use my brakes very hard -- with these brakes, I can haul down quickly from speed so smoothly and effortlessly -- the ABS never triggers. No serious grooving and no squeaking but of course plenty of dust. But I'm only at 2500 miles.

why not?

man, it's a pity to see such a capable car just tooling around.

GET ON IT! SRT boys actually recommended this, these cars are designed to be whipped.

I must qualify all that with the fact that it is an amazing cruiser when you want to. Quiet, decent ride, amazing tunes.

I love this car!

Why not drive like a maniac? Try, local traffic. But I can still go faster than the other cars.

The car turns what would be a hair-raising ride in most of those other cars I see on the road, into a nice comfortable cruise. Smooth driving usually is fast driving after all. And I can cut things a bit closer, knowing that performance is there.

I am not close to the car's limits, but I'd probably be off the road in most of the other cars I see, doing what I do in the SRT8.

Remember, you need to drive it like you did at the SRTE- lots of WOT and hard stops over and over......

Don’t forget to bed your brakes- it really does make a difference.

Rotora 8 piston fronts with 16 inch slotted rotors, anyone?
