TSB brake pads = MORE dust.....

I just got done with a spring cleaning of my MSRT8 and I pull all the wheels and clean out the wheel wells and other under-chassis parts during this. I can and do wash my wheels completely at each washing, I can get my hand through the spokes easily on the MSRT8 wheels, and I have noticed that I cannot get all the dust off in a particular area. If you pull your wheels, there is a groove near the back lip and just towards the outside lip, from that groove, is where a heavy line of brake dust develops. I assume this is in line with the brake rotor and why it gets thrown at the wheel in this location harder than the rest of the wheel.....

Anyway, I never had this issue in 6500 miles with the original pads. I could always get all the brake dust off pretty easy. Now, with 2500 miles on the TSB pads, I am already seeing a need to pull the front(only the fronts do it, not the rears) more often to clean this line. I was able to put some extra elbow grease into this time and get it off, but I'm afraid an entire year will make it hopeless next time.

Also, the wheels are pitting at the leading edge of each of the spokes. Our car is mostly a open road driver and this is very disappointing to see.....I have washed these wheels more than I car to admit, due to dust, and it really is disappointing to see that effort result in damaged wheels anyway.....

It's funny you should bring this up, because I cleaned my wheels today and I could've swore that the new pads are creating MORE dust than the old ones......no squeaks, but dustier than before for sure........I thought I was losing my mind......thank you for letting me know that I'm not........I'm also seeing the pitting as well

dust I can handle.........damaged wheels I cannot......this sux!!!!!!

Didn't the SRT engineers say that a perm fix was coming out soon that would put the squealing and the brake dust issue to rest. I am sure others saw this on the Q & as well. I am holding out for this fix, I didn't think the current brake fix was worth the effort.

I looked at a friend's BMW M5 today. It has 3500 miles on the odo and I saw no rotor grooving. He told me he doesn't see excessive brake dust. There is no squeeling and the car stops on a dime. I know his car costs close to $90,000 but the extra $40,000 difference from an SRT-8 didn't all go into his brakes. I hope the SRT guys come out with an effective fix for the brake problem.

What does it mean when the wheels are "pitting"?

I'll be around a lot longer to watch some more of your amsoil comments....I am a big enough man that I can handle washing my car. As you can also read, I'm not the only one with the wheel pitting issue and that is something that DCX should be aware of.

No it won't.

Not on the street.

That's the problem. The pad material they selected is for the track and not street because it doesn't see high enough temperatures to properly wear.

The way I see it is I want an aftermarket street pad and I will keep my stock pads for the track.
