Another 12 second SRT-8 joins the group!

I finally broke into the 12's!!!

Last fall, on the last day of the season, I drove a 13.057. Close - but $%^&$!!!!

Yesterday I ran 10 times. The first time of the day was 13.000 at 110.37mph. The elusive 12's very just teassing me. Then I ran 8 consecutive runs in the 12's!!

Best time of the day: 12.900 (new the 12.8's are teasing me). Best trap speed: 111.42mph!!!! I though that was pretty good! All of my runs were in the 110-111 mph range. 60 foot times were terrible, as track preparation stank, and there was noting I could do to hook up well. The 60' time was 2.010 on the 12.900 second run. I'd love to see my results if I could get a 1.900 second 60' time.

BTW: Changes since last fall: My Ram air mod that everyone laughed at, and my potentiometer mod to change air/fuel ratio. My times dropped about .2 seconds, and my trap speed went up 5 mph. Total mod cost: $15.

Very nice JMatt. I know you’ve been chasing the elusive 12’s for awhile now. This was done in Indy? Was XCITsNU with you for these runs? Sounds like you had a blast Congrats!!

The MPH is incredible. If that car hooks alittle better, 12.50's easy.
Nice.

Racing was down in Cincy. XCITsNU was there as well. Indy was running big boys/big money this weekend. They have a "street legal" night every Tuesday. I'm hoping to run there this week. My top end felt VERY strong now. It was definitely a blast to drive!!

Congrats on some great runs. Please feel free to share your mods again. I wasn't one who laughed, I think it is great you found a way to gain more power and for such little money.

The car definately loosens up after the miles add up. My car feels much stronger up top.

Im hoping mine will loosen up. It has been slowing down, and I cant seem to get back to a simple 106mph. Id like to know about this A/F mod you found.

Can you explain your launch technique? ESP On? off? prestage brunout? etc.

Thanks,

Moose.

1) I skip the water box.
2) Autostick into 1st - burnout to redline - about 4 seconds. This is probably longer than most would recommend with street tires, but I consistently hook up better after a 4 second burnout than if I do a 1 second burnout to just clean the tires.
3) I shallow stage
4) Autostick in Drive
5) ESP off
6) Right foot on brake - nothing on the gas.
7) Immediately after the second amber light I take my right foot off the brake and hammer the gas.

My average reaction time this weekend was .099 seconds. My best was .046 seconds. Not great - but I never red lighted, and we weren't bracket racing so it didn't matter anyway.

For anyone who's never tried it - you should. I never did before last fall. It can be intimidating, but once you've gone I think you'll find people will love to talk with you, they will be much friendlier than you can imagine, they'll be supportive, and there's little to no pressure. Oh - and with an SRT-8, you'll be one of the fastest truly street legal cars at any track on any given day.

I would really like to know what you did to get that kind of top end... can you repost your mods? I just re-ran my car in arizona and couldnt get the same times i ran when i had 1500 miles on the car, I have 8k now... My 60 foot times were 2.039 was the best and averged 2.200 best time at 1500miles was 13.4 @ 106 and at 8k was 13.6 @104... bone stock with 22's
I have the gsm/fan mod but I dont look at it as a "performance mod " really.. I had my buddy run the car once and watched, it just doesnt hook up till 2nd gear really, I need to put the 20's on or get some street drag radials....
