Lower Mesh Inserts on SRT8

HEMI 57 was handed to my Dealer last week and SRT 61 arrived there yesterday for pick up when I am back home on Thursday.

The dealer kindly agreed to transfer my E&G Mesh Grille and lower mesh inserts between the cars but just rang to advise that the lower mesh inserts will not fit the SRT8. Has anyone here on the Forum struck this? Are there different E&G lower mesh inserts available for the SRT8?

I bought the E&G classics lower mesh insert kit from www.autotrucktoys.com

Here is the link to the mesh inserts I bought. It doesn't list if it is for the SRT, and I have an SRT. They fit fine.
http://www.autotrucktoys.com/300/EG-...8325C1843.aspx

Since E&G had already done the measurements for the lower insert openings and made the border frames with the mesh inserts. I bought there insert kit and then used the frames only to make the custom lower inserts you see on Freebirds sig picture.

Thanks for the advice, but my inserts and preferred are the internal type which sit inside the vent.

So does your car have the new front like this one here? It has the extra cut outs. Enjoy your new ride BTW!

I'd bet it has something to do with your brake ducts and the fact that the mesah woul make to thick to put between the duct and the facia.

Danno, whoops I missed getting back to this thread for a while

No my SRT8 does not have the centre vents in the actual bumper, just the chin extension.

I think the problem is there are no "lugs" to attach/position/retain the mesh grilles like on the 300C. These appear top have been cut off to accommodate the brake ducts.

what i did for my C which would probably work for the SRT8 was buy the E&G mesh inserts they happened to be the ones for the front. i had my front fascia off and just used the mesh. what i did was fit it on the lower ducts and trimmed off the excess mesh. then i bent over the corners and used epoxy to hold them in place. it worked great. i dont know if this will work for you. it does invlove removing the front fascia. here is what mine look like. hope this helps

Damn, that is the exact look I want.

Thanks urban

But yours is a 300C, so have you fitted the brake ducts later? and did you trim off the "lugs" I mentioned?

I ordered the Strut Grill with lower inserts and I had to trim them down to fit. They wouldn't fit other wise. I used twistie ties on them to hold them in place. Looks good. But a prefit insert would have been nice and less time consuming!

yes we had to trim off the little tabs that held in the black plastic covers in place. sanded the area flat. then i just placed the mesh flush against the opening. trimmed off the extra mesh then bent over the mesh in the four corners to fit right against the ednges of the opening. then we used a 2 part epoxy on all 4 corners to hold the mesh in place. worked like a charm and the mesh isnt gonna come off at all.
