Tire Help

Guys, I need to replace my front F1s but I don't want to go back to the high performance tire. I want something with longer tread life. Can anyone verify that 255/45-20s will work on the front with no problems? No guesstimates please. I would like to hear from someone who has actually replaced the front tire with something larger.

Also, any alternate sizes that will work on the front. Again, no guesstimates. Thanks.

for someone with 8 total posts who is requesting information, you are coming across a bit demanding...that being said, i haven't swapped my tires (yet), so i cannot assist you, hopefully someone can.

Why do you want 255s in front, anyway?

I want 255s in front so I can rotate my tires. I don't want to spend $500 every 6 months on a pair of tires. I have found a pair of Nittos with a 420 treadwear rating (255/45-20)

Sorry, I am Infantryman. I read previous tire post and there were a lot of people putting their best guest, but no solid answers. But that is what you get if you don't demand exactly what you want:-).

I don't think it will work, but haven't tried myself.......my suggestions? Go with the 245's all around or if that won't do it for you and you're concerned about changing tires every 6 months, either lay off the pedal a bit, or trade down to a C.........unfortunately, sometimes you've got to pay to play.....

Good luck!!

The pedal has nothing to do with it. The rubber on the F1s is going to wear quicker because of the compound. You can pay to play (throw money at it) or you can solve the problem. I'll let you know how the 255s work and send me the money you save if they are any good;-).

Thanks, but no thanks......I actually like my F1's and the trade off in handling by changing compounds is not worth saving a few bucks a year on tires......for me anyways

I average about 10k a year and don't drive it hard in the rain (in sunny Florida) so the F1's are fine by me........

Good luck!

It works fine. I replaced my F1s after 18,000 ( I have the 05 300C srt8) with Toyo Proxes S/Ts 255/45 all the way around. It actually improved the ride and the handling seems the same if not better. No issues of any kind...just put em on and drive away!
