Car Still not fixed!..

about 2 weeks ago I developed a problem where my car would have a major loss of power off the line, multiple hesitation while accelrating acting as if the car was jumping on and off the gas and sudden power at 4000 rpms..

They Data logged my computer and decided that my PCM should be replaced. after replacing the PCM i recieved a call saying my car was fixed. I pick up my car today and take it for a drive car. everything was good and great until the car heated up and the same problem started to occur this time there is less power surging jumps but and more loss of total power and the jumps are still there.. they told me to take the car home and they will call Chrysler headquarters for another solution. this would take at least a week to get done!

I am looking for you guys to chime in and help me fiqure this out... here is everything I can put together so far....
while the car is operating at 200 degrees it is a beast peels tires for miles fast as hell even better than before and i really like the 4.08 softwhere because now it says upsift on the evic before right before redline. the car then proceeds to heat up not to the usual 210 or 220 but it is right at the 3rd line in the heating display on the dash the line between 200 and 260... before this problem my car whould never operate this HOT and would usually stay around 210 220.. the car only has the symptoms described when hot. Also if i turn the heat on it does not cool the car down anymore and sometimes it actually rises the temperature of the car... Could my thermostat be bad? do you think this is computer related? keep in mind my PCM was 4.05 and now 4.08 software and still have the same problem. Please help guys I just want my car fixed!

I'm no mechanic, but it sounds like the thermostat and/or water pump must not be working. I don't believe there are any electronic controls on these, so that cooling will still work if the computer craps out. If these systems are working, I don't see how the engine could heat up that much.

I would get them to look at the cooling system immediately. Even if they can't figure out the other thing, they should be able to check / fix the cooling system.

It's possible that there is some real physical engine issue behind all this, I'm just suspicious.

It sounds like the hot engine condition is causing the computer to sense detonation, and the computer is causing the stumble, trying to prevent detonation. This does not explain you overheat problem, but I think it explains the car's reaction to it. My personal feeling is the tune/spark retard built in to the engine controls on these cars is very conservative, to allow no chance for detonation(probably a good thing). Good luck determining the cooling problem, certainly your dealer should be able to figure it out.

the oil temperature is at 242 while this is happening.
if I had to guess I would think the computer is retarding the timing but I would like all suggestions so I can present them to the mechanic and dealer. I just want the car fixed. usually normal operating temps was just above halfway mark now its ridiculous. it just bothers me that it dosnt throw a light if it is retarding the timing and how are they supposed to diagnos a car when the comp isn't telling them anything? maybe if they still have the datalog saved I could ask them to check what's going on with the timing.
thanks everyone and keep the ideas or thoughts coming its highly appreciated.

Since I think the cooling system is not computer controlled, a cooling problem should be diagnosable without looking at the computer output.

BrilliantBlack - Forgive the lawyer in me, BUT depending on the Lemon Law in the state you're in, I'd leave the car with them for the week that they need to fix it. I can only speak for the rules in NY. Here, your car is a Lemon if the dealer can't fix the same problem in three attempts OR if the dealer keeps your car for more than a total of thirty days. These are great cars and I sure hope that your problem is quickly resolved, but if you can't drive it due to the problem park it at the dealer so they can't avoid the thirty day rule. Or, just ignore me.
