Stupid Question.....but here goes......

Since I hardly ever get to drive my damn car, I'm still on software version 4.05............

what's the major differences of the newest version (4.08.......I think) and do I just have the dealer to an update?

Yes, you have to go to the dealer for this. I am keeping 4.08 because I do not have any issues and I want to keep it that way. I have even figured out how to stay away from the rev limiter problem (1-2 stutter).

What's the saying? If it aint broke don't fudge with it...???

well, I didn't think mine was broke with 4.05, but if I'm missing on on some fun(and some new EVIC goodies) then I guess I should update.....you're not sayin the update got rid of the 1-2 stutter? You're just sauying you've figured out a way around it....

I don't have the stutter now........

and I damn sure don't want it

hold the two inside buttons on the steering wheel, together, bottom part (music note and compass....I think) for about 5-7 seconds and it brings up another whole set of menus in the EVIC.....

software version will come up in there

That is only your evic version. It is not the pcm or tcm version which would control your 1-2 stutter issue. You need a starscan or flashpaq to see what version of software you have for the pcm and tcm.

If I remember correctly 4.05 is the latest you can get for on 05 car. 4.09 is the very latest ccn (evic) flash but it is only for 06 vehicles. it will not work properly in an 05. I have tried it and there are several problems with it including the temperature gauge not working. If you take your car to the dealer, it won't even show newer software being available for your evic.

I am going to do a test this weekend. I will flash the 06's PCM software to my 05 then do the ccn update to see if this fixes the problem. The software for the 06 pcm is more than twice the size than the 05's. I wonder if they changed some of the variable names and that is why the CCN with the 06 software isn't picking up on some of the parameters. We'll see.

If it works, I doubt any dealer will even attempt this for you. It involves modifying some files that starscan uses to force starscan to send the file. Unless you know someone there that is willing to make some changes you will be stuck with 4.05.

4.09 has some nice features too. Cruise indication in the evic display is just one of them.

my problem is a little different..............mine is an 06, but it was between the forth and seventh (four cars on my build date) 06 built and my manual is an 05.........i have a feeling my car has more in common with the 250 or so 05's than the 06's.......

guess I 'll find out when I take her in.........

I think it is on the same page as the version number there should be a part number. Something like 0469430AE (not a real number). If you give me this number I can use the starscan to see if the updates apply to you.
