Antenna type

Might be off topic, but does anyone know the difference between a Diversity Antenna and an Element Antenna. Chrysler/MB use the Element type and companies such as Infiniti use Diversity, both are built into the windows ( what is the difference) thanks

on my old Turbo Mazda there were two antennas for the FM reception. That was the diversity setup I believe. This was supposed to give the tuner a choice for better reception.

With wireless microphone systems a diversity receiver has two antennae and two receiver amplifiers (I think). The output is taken from whichever receiver as the stronger reception signal from the given transmitter... thus nearly eliminating drop-outs (very important in mic recording from a distance, ala special event videography, etc.).
