Few Srt8 questions

I inadvertently posted a SRT8 questions in the 300c general area. Won't repeat same questions again here, except stereo question. Received some very helpful responses.

What influence or engineering did MB have on this car, if any?

While test driving SRT8 on Saturday I check out the stereo system and was very disappointed in the overall sound. I had adjusted the controls to neutral. The base seemed to have a mind of its own. I have owned some upscaled cars and the stereos have all been great. Great concert like sound. I can't imagine any car maker producing this type of sound in this car class. I'm not into hip hop nor very deep base sound music. In my previous post responded noted a wire phasing repair. Does this really help with more clear music sound?

I'm very interested in purchasing this car, and might wait for the 2007 since there will be improvements to the stereo and brakes.

Very helpful forum.
Thanks,
Joe

The brakes? Mine seems to stop better than any other street car I have driven.

If your reason for buying this car hinges on the stereo please move along.

We won't touch on the fact that for low $40's you get the best stopping, handling, and acceleration of AAAAAAAAAAAAAAANY car made.

Seriously dude.

The car is great but you're right - the stereo sucks. I have the kicker upgrade but it is very disappointing. Not too mention terrible fm radio reception. Not sure what they were thinking with the center speaker as it kills the L/R separation. I rented a grand am last week while on travel that had a much better sounding system in it. I think the best bet is to go aftermarket. That is what I plan to do. Like someone else said, don't let this be the reason to not get the car.

If you don't like the stereo, just rip it out and put in something better. There are better systems available. Just be sure not to pay extra for the Kicker upgrade if you plan to replace it.

The slotted rotors in the 2007 SRT8 are supposed to address the brake dust problem...Aside from that, the brakes are some of the best available and will stop the 4000+ lb car like a sports car.

My stereo sounds great and unless you're doing track days on a road course, upgrading the Brembos to something better is going to be pretty tough to accomplish. Don't forget these are HEAVY cars. Not sure what your complaint is there....

To answer your question about MB engineering.....

The platform is derived from the previous generation E-class. The suspension and transmission IS from the previous generation E-class. I'm sure there is more. Globalization and shared resources have given us one fine car.
