GOSH I NEED MY CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This car "event" is every Saturday in Newport Beach/Corona Del Mar...
and as several member on this board will attest that were at March's M&G...
you will see stuff here that you only see in the Magazines...
heck, DCX even brought the Challenger here about a month and a half ago to gauge the interest level...
looks like they got their answer with yesterday's announcement in Daytona...
once gain, thanks for sharing jason...
now let me go off to my corner and sulk some more until I get my car back and can go to Crystal Cove in my SRT8...
that's if I ever get it back...
alot of CLS's over here are just CLS500's with CLS55 kits, my best friend switched from CLS500 to CLS55 and now i know the difference between the 2 cars by sound (and the breaks say AMG). i tested out my 300SRT against his CLS55, he jumps by about 0.5-1 carlengths away, but drifts away slowly afterwards. on the highway, i caught up with him really fast cuz his silly car was limited to 220km/h. he now has an MKB chip and no limiter whatsoever, so i stand no chance....yet.
oh, about the M5 thing, it really depends on the driver when it comes to those cars. Believe it or not, i beat an M6 and an SLR with my stock 300c SRT8.. WHY? because the M6 didn't know how to do that launch trick, and that SLR dude opened up the traction and created a smoke screen (who removes the traction off a super car when racing a normal car anyways?)
I got to play with a C6 on the highway last night. I was behind him merging onto the highway and was hoping to see how the cars would do. I held first and waited for him to get on it. Didn't take long for that to happen and I did the same. We ran up to about 80 MPH before slowing down for traffic. We stayed pretty even through that run (maybe from 30 - 80). I was hoping to do it again but there was to much traffic for awhile. We drove about 15 miles. I casually passed him at one point and he later did the same to me. Then I saw that he was taking an exit for my favorite local um.... "test grounds".... yup, the local testing area! I stayed behind him and held 2nd just waiting to go. He layed into it up to about 75 then moved over and slowed some. I went by and waved. Wasn't sure if he wanted me to slow for a drag or not so I cruised at about 65 MPH. Then he pulled into behind me and we layed into it. I could gauge his headlights in my mirror and see if he was pulling or falling behind. We stayed pretty even for awhile. I might have been just barely walking away but it wasn't by much. I think he slowed down at around 140 because the gap grew alot then. I stayed in it for another 10-15 seconds. The area was clear enough to do that
I'm probably making about 380-390 rear wheel hp and a stock C6 will make about 355. They have lighter weight and cut through the air better. Not sure if that car was a 6 speed manual or an automatic. It was a good run though!

hehehe
I've got 10 people that are ready to make the run once I give the high sign...

Well I feel somewhat vindicated this morning. I went to Crystal Cove to meet up with CButler and low and behold three guys walk up to my car and one says, “oh that’s (my license plate) very fast car for stock”. I asked if they were the three cars I raced the week before and they were. All three cars, M5 CLS 55 AMG as I now got to see close up and the Porsche Carrera.
We chatted about the problem with traction in these cars and the AMG guy agreed that the best way to drive is EPS on! Anyway CButler is my witness.
Also on a side note. My wife’s ex Boss was there with is son and his sons mates. 3 Nissan Skylines. 3 of only 26 ish in the country for that model. And this is the best bit. One of them was running “1300” bhp.

Sounds like you had a great time. I had never heard of the Nissan Skyline. So I did a little search and turned up this article on them. I thought it was pretty interesting. Funny you met the dudes you were racing in this story….they sound pretty cool.
