Thumbs up A nice little race.

Finally got to race someone who was not a reader of this lovely web site.

On the PCH in Huntington Beach. 3 lanes 50 mile an hour beach front road for those not familiar with SoCal. Just coming back from Crystal Cove Saturday morning car show with the wife. I get over taken by an M5, CLS600 AMG and a Porsche Carrera Turbo. Those Porsches all look the same to me.

The four of us stop at the lights, I’m behind the M5 and to the right in front is the Porsche and next to me is the CLS. Now I know all these cars should beat me what with the M5’s and CLS having 550BHP and the Porsche, well who cares about that thing.

The M5 is revving his car, I’m guessing for fun and then he goes for it. Surprisingly he spins the back wheels a bit in first and second. The Merc falls behind me and then hits second pulls up beside and falls behind again. Did not notice what was happing with the Porsche but guess it pull ahead. Who cares….

The long and the short is I stayed with the M5, beat the CLS and who cares about the Porsche. We only got to about the top of second before running out of road and I’m sure with more space I’d have fallen behind but they don’t know that…….

Definitely sounds like a good time was had! Lol…..who cares about the Porsche…too funny. Its fun to be able and play with the big boys isn’t it. They may be faster, but you can still run with them, and as we’ve seen many times on this forum their drivers are often times freaked out by their speed so they back off. Sounds like you had a great Saturday!

Your right

I just checked the Merc web site. I guess it was a CLS 55 AMG. To be honest, it was the AMG badge that i realy looked at for the sec i had. The rest of the time he was to the side and then behind me.

the cls55 should be able to take the srt8...as well as the m5! sounds like he might have been afraid of what he had. what a waste!!! kudos to your srt8 for keeping up!

I guess you don't really care about Porsche....now do you? hehehehe

What does "stayed with the M5" mean? He was faster then you but you could still see him? Or, you were side by side the whole time and he could not pull you? Or, ????

caligeezer,
thanks for sharing the story!

GOSH I NEED MY CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This car "event" is every Saturday in Newport Beach/Corona Del Mar...
and as several member on this board will attest that were at March's M&G...
you will see stuff here that you only see in the Magazines...

heck, DCX even brought the Challenger here about a month and a half ago to gauge the interest level...
looks like they got their answer with yesterday's announcement in Daytona...

once gain, thanks for sharing jason...
now let me go off to my corner and sulk some more until I get my car back and can go to Crystal Cove in my SRT8...
that's if I ever get it back...
