Tranny locked in 1st to 7000 rpm

Driving today , I floored it getting onto an onramp..
But , the car would not get out of 1st as it went past the redline and hit 7k. I let up on the gas and it just slowed down.. I went to neutral then back to drive . It seemed to fix itself , but the upshift message was in my info window and it would not go away..
Mind you , I was not using the autostick , this all happened whilst in Drive..

Scared the p@ss out of me as it sreamed past the redline...

Steve, ill be callin ya soon..

This happen to anyone else?

That's happened to a couple of people on the forums. In fact, it happened to me twice somewhere in my first 5k miles and hasn't happened since. I'm sure it was just one of those glitchy technical one time things.
If it happens again, though, you might want to take it to be checked out.

Are you running the Superchips tuner, haas?

If so, suggest you go online and verify your PC has the latest updates, plug in your tuner and update it, then reflash your car. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

If you do (have the tuner) and it doesn't (following the above doesn't fix the problem), suggest you return the car to stock tune and check it.

See the dealer immediately if it repeats (be at stock tune before seeing dealer).

Can't be...if he is running an SRT as his avitar states.

Anyway, I have had this problem with my SRT only when manually shifting. If I down shift to first at say 20 MPH, and then try to shift to second at (before redline) the trans will not shift and the momentum of the motor will take me past 7000. I have tested this thing after it did it a couple of times and what happens is...if you try to duplicate, watch the shifter on the EVIC, it goes to 2...then back to 1 really fast. It is a computer glitch. It Pi$$es the hell out of me. Now if I run from a 20 MPH, I know to keep in drive.

While in manual, if you hit the shifter twice to the right...sometimes it will shift, and sometimes it won't. Not good. I do not like the shift mechanism on these cars whatsoever.

There are no mods on my car, not even exhaust.
Didn't happen today though..

Have you had the dealer look at your shifter. I had a few goofy episodes with mine & it threw a code bringing on the check engine light. The dealer checked it out & called the "Star Line" or something like that. They said to replace the entire shift mechanism. The problem was with the optical sensor in the SRT shifter assembly. It reads the shifter position somewhat like an optical mouse and was sending mixed messages to the transmission. They replaced the entire shifter assembly. It responds much more quickly to inputs, & is overall a huge improvement. My SRT is a Jeep but I'm guessing the shifter technology if not the exact part # is standard across the SRT line.

Car is better since the freakish seizure

Ever since my tranny acted up , it seems my car shifts waaaaaay more aggressively. Now when WOT , the 1-2 shift gives me a nice solid chirp of the tires , no bog whatsoever. It like having a manual tranny now ...
Thats when my car is hot too.. The temps here are in low 80's...
