John,

I've been a car enthusiast long before I started any forums. I've been involved in alot of forms of racing since I was in high school. The "first" few forums I started didnt even have advertising -- and, I ran SRTforums.com for a full year (up to 7000 members) before I even made a single penny off the site and started charging advertisers. I've never taken a single "donation" from any user like most forums do.

I think we offer an excellent source of information for the community, the users have a totally free ride and the vendors who are selling products on my site to users who frequent my site pay a small fee. I make money off the advertising so I am able to cover my costs and make a living.

Sounds like a win/win situation for everyone.

Is there something wrong with someone not being an enthusiast in what the own?

In other words, if I started a chain of R/C stores, I am not obligated to be an enthusiast, just need to know how to run the business. Am I wrong here? If I have the business knowledge, the marketing strategies, and the correct implementation tools, I do not need to be into Remote Control cars, I leave that to my well groomed management team.....

I own a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and a Dodge Viper, my roomate owns a Dodge Charger. I'd say that qualifies me as an enthusiast in itself, nevermind all the cars I've owned and raced in the past. Oh, lets not forget about the thousands of dollars I donate each year to car meets like the SRT Nationals and the Midwest SRT meet -- plus free advertising for meets and greets.

No biggy. I dont need to justify what I do because we run a totally free site here and people are free to use it or move on to the next site.

Pretty much sums things up for me. I like win/win and those who stand up for what they believe in. It's all about credibility, and IMO ekool's earned that hands down.

EDIT: And what a way to spend a Birthday!

This is funny It would appear mother HEN just got face full of how to run a business. By ekool.

John hang in there and deal with it. It will only make you a better vendor and business owner. We all take our knocks but those that last stand up admit the past and make a clear future

See you in september for post # 3.[/quote]

"See you in September for post #3?" With retorts like this, he'll probably not ever post again - we may have seen his last post (that is of course he has already posted in answer to this post and I just haven't read far enough yet.

Great creativity - I love the incredible information on this forum but I love the humor just as much (SRTDanno - where are you?).

I would have loved for this thread to have played itself out by now, but I can't let this one go by... sorry.

First of all John, I know firsthand what an enthusiast ekool is, both from conversations we have had about cars/mods, as well as his generous support of member's projects and major events, including one that I organized with my partner, fatchance.

As a Moderator of 9 of ekool's sites, and an 'early' member on many of them, I can tell you that you are wrong in your assessment of his order of priorities. When ekools' forums are first introduced, he does not use a supporting vendors program. The forums are allowed to grow until they are of such a size that the potential customer base will make a vendor relationship mutually beneficial. He gradually phases in vendors that are eager to make the leap and pay for the privilege BEFORE official vendor rules are put into place and fees become a requirement. You, of ALL people should know this John, since you are NOT a supporting vendor at www.cherokeesrt8.com, which is where this disagreement occurred, and where you enjoyed a free ride in promoting your business and projects... that is, until you decided you didn't like "the way you were being treated".

By now, you should be quite accustomed to the type of feedback you received, and ekool has nothing to do with the fact that you received it. Nor would his willingness to appease you by censoring it make it go away. You are a product of your own making, and now that we are in the age of the internet the world has become a much smaller place. The character to make lemonade from the lemons of your past will eventually turn things around for you. You've made progress, but your 'Lemonade' could use a lot more sugar...

Hennessey...
I was one of the first to point out his early misfortunes...
and took a wait and see approach...
believing that people should be giving a second chance in life...
he came into our LX platform world and earned our respect...
made major in-roads as a human being taking in a whole family from New Orleans who lost everything when devasted by Katrina...
then...
it began all over again...
a story here...
a story there...
several not on line for obvious legal reasons...
things not getting done...
parts not installed...
HP numbers bragged about, but not backed up...
and then flat out complete disrepect of a fellow board member and those that chimed in were verbally assaulted in a thread on this very board - a out and out verbal attack by John...
that was the final straw for me...
how anyone does business with someone so contentious is beyond me...

I'm still waiting for the big one to drop and rock these boards that is going to hopefully come out soon on a "slighted" LX platform owner...
it will make all of the others pale in comparison...
