Thinking about buying a 300 SRT8

I am thinking about buying a 300c SRT8 within the next couple months and I wanted to know if there's anything I should worry about? Also what are you guys spending on gas because I drive 40-50 miles roundtrip to work and back any information would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Now's the time to buy, with Employee pricing and many in stock.

Or wait till the very end of the year (December 30th or so) when dealers are in the final push to hit their quotas - - but the '06 models will be gone by then and it may be hard to find an '07 SRT8 in stock - - probably not as hard as they were to get when first introduced though.

I've got the 5.7, but my Dad has the SRT8 and got over 19 mpg on a 600 mile round trip when the car only had 200 miles on it at the start of the trip. He doesn't ever check his gas mileage normally so I can't tell you what he gets in town.

Welcome to the forums Mafioso. As Kevin already stated now is a great time to buy because of the Employee discount pricing. There have been some reports (who shall remain anonymous) of some great deals on SRT8’s ….like in the upper 30’s.
Gasoline….mine is a daily driver and I drive her 70 miles round trip. Well if you’re going to buy this kind of car you’re going to buy it to enjoy it right? I get between 15-19 depending on how much I get into it. So why buy it if you don’t enjoy it is my motto.

Good luck and post some pics.

Worries

There are several things to worry about. I have had my SRT for about 6 months.
The first problem is that constant $h.. eatin' grin on your face all the time. Keep your head in the car and the bugs wont get in yer teeth.
Then there is that sudden weight gain in your right foot. Be prepared to buy new shoes.... shoe, about 3 or 4 sizes bigger. That thing swells up and gains 30 or 40 pounds.... step-drag, step-drag....
Then I also noticed the hat size increased as you put away lots of rice burners, pony cars, beamers and the like. That hat not fitting can be quickly fixed by finding the right opponent. It usually doesn't come back once humbled.
That's all I can think of. Guys?

I must say that I concur with your assessment. Off the topic, I'm curious as to how much performance you got from you P & P head mod. I have already done all of the other stuff; my next thing is the LSD from Quaife and then I'm thinking of doing the P & P heads from GSM (I've heard Heat heads might be better).

Well I'd like to thank you guys for your input and by the way I drive a "rice burner" but yeah the car I have is an evo 8 and I love the car but I'm starting to get tired of it so thats pretty much it. As far as pricing I really don't care because I always get Employee pricing I work for Tuttle-Click in the tustin auto center.

Another thing to worry about is not being able to film the road because of this huge engine, it's so damn big!
