Not sure on the difficulty there. But, I would ask them to inspect and let you know if there are any witness marks. BTW, for what it is worth it is not a sealed shroud, but when they replace it (if they have to) they replace the whole thing and not just the blade. Good luck and I will be sure to let you know if anything more comes of it.

What do you mean by that? Was something wrong with the paint?

As far as your fan noise goes, have you noticed the humidity very high with the noise? I live in AZ and have never heard that noise, nor have I heard my AZ conrad's talk about it. That makes me thing it might be a humidity thing.

I bought the interior/exterior protection from the dealer. Part of the process is they treat the interior and exterior - with what I dont know - and if they cant get water spots or bird crap, or sap, etc they will repaint it to look new. Same for the inside, stains on the seats, carpet, etc. Do you know anything about it?

I live in almost 0 humidity. But, one time it happened was right after going through the touchless car wash. Perhaps it was related?

I'm under the impression that you purchased the car new, and the protectant is a proactive treatment. A good wax will do the same thing, but what the heck, now you don't need to wax her. Word of advise...don't ever let someone ''repaint'' your vehicle unless it is absolutely mandatory. The only "real" repaints are the ones from "real" custom shops. A dealer or regular paint shop never comes out the same.

Back on topic. That is weird abou the fan noise. One can easily see that others are having the same problem. Keep us posted

Your impression is correct Moose. And thanks for the advice on the paint, I will heed that.

Back to topic, I had the AC on for quite some time today while idle and it did not occur. So I will keep an ear out for future occurences.

If you get your car painted at a "real" custom shop it won't end up with the factory orange peel.

Thank God - 608 miles on mine and I was pulling in to the car wash and the same thing was happening to me. Exactly the same thing. What was it and is it dangerous to drive to the dealer?

quote=SRTHILL]Yes, that would not be good. And, it is definitely NOT normal. I am actually taking it in to have my interior/exterior protection applied on Thursday and will raise this issue at the same time. I hope it is not one of those phantom things that require multiple visits to the dealer...

I will report back on the root cause. In the meantime, has anyone else experienced this same noise?

Regards,
SRTHILL[/quote]

Question

Hey everyone....

I heard the same noise on the weekend and yesterday....i was driving my Charger SRT8 very slowly through an Automall down in Mount Vernon, WA....it was a hot day(80-82 F)....suddenly i heard a crunching noise coming from the front....i first thought i hit something with the front end....i pulled over and turned off the engine....opened the hood but found nothing wrong....started up again but this time i heard the engine fan come on and then the crunching noise again...i quickly stepped back and then saw something whipping around near the fan....it was very blurry because it was being whipped around very quickly.... i turned off the engine again and looked around by the fan again....again found nothing....i saw something earlier being whipped around....where did it go ?.....again i started it up again....the fan came on but no noise this time....and no noise until yesterday....i was driving through my neighborhood on the way home when i heard the crunching noise briefly (2-3 seconds).....2 minutes later i arrived home and opened the hood....the fan came on but no noise for over 10 minutes....the day was not as warm as on the weekend (70-72 F)......anyone have this problem fixed yet ??

My car did it when it was new. The tech looked at it while it was happening. we could not find anything. and has never done it again.

Mine has not occured again since my original post. I wonder if the factory is getting sloppy and there is some foreign material in the shroud that works its way out. In any case I continue to listen to all noises in my car. Nothing out of the ordinary. All of the posts I have seen indicate the issue when new, and then it magically disappears. Go figure.
