strangers checking out the SRT8

I pull into the parking lot of a local resturaunt last night, going to eat with the preacher and a couple of friends (hoping he will keep putting in a good word for me!).

Anyway, these two guys in early 30's walk up as I am getting out of my car. "What kind of horsepower does this engine make" is one's opening line. After advising him 425, he says," Wow, my buddy here new the SRT(no 8 mentioned) was that huge horsepower, I couldn't believe it. But man, the way it was rumbling accross the parking lot. Would you let me check out the engine?"

So of course I obliged and these two dudes are just oooing and awing as I tell them about the 172 mph potential (I have not tried yet) and about a 12.93 quarter I have with my stock SRT8. Also was telling them this car would beat almost any stock muscle car of the late 60's and early 70's, at minimum be competive. Even the 70 454 Chevelle, or the 69 L88 427 Vette, our SRT8's are right in the quarter mile ball park with the best of all times, and top end have them beat!

Pretty cool how people are simply ga ga over this car.

I’ve had a couple of times like that..... and you know I did kind of worry about the beast being gone when I came out. It’s nice to run into people that know what you’ve got and give it the props it deserves.

whatcha you talking about willis?
if you do try...
and I don't know why anyone would right now...
since we all know what the "limit" is...
make sure your preacher blesses you and the car before you do it...

great story!
keep enjoying!

Chris, ever since you hit the "limit" you keep trying to disuade people from replicating the feat or, heaven forbid, exceed it. I bet if someone found a nice downhill stretch they would be able to at least get to 172 just because of the momentum. Someone around here said they missed a shift going downhill and the momentum took the RPM to nearly 7k.

hey I'm all for someone trying to beat it...
but since we all know it is electronically controlled to 171...
why?
let's get the programming issue solved and then let's see who has the fastest in the land...
how about them apples?
