You can't just hammer it, you have to smoothly and quickly move to the mat. Then you have to execute the 1-2 shift perfectly with that damned autostick delay.
Now that I've got it dialed in I can launch well on almost any road. Ther can be no imperfections or crap on the surface. These cars have a real traction-limited launch. When I get new tires I'll be even quicker as I will upsize and upgrade!

I really agree with SteveSRT8. Generally I have the same opinions and experience as Steve. I have run a 12.93 (believe he has 12.89) quarter and have a 4.55 0 - 60 where Steve has 4.3 . Must say, Steve, I have always left my tranny in drive for my times, that shift hesitation thing, but might try shifting after seeing your time. I totally agree with the road condition and getting the right timing in "pushing" the pedal to the floor instead of a all out romp, leading to major wheel spin. My best times have been cold days (below 50), let some air out of the back tires and really light them up for about 5 seconds before the run.
At this point, I am not scared of any vehicle on the road. I recently kept a good race going with a Kawasaki that beat me to about 80 mph by about a car length, but he was very impressed, as was I !
The lower rear end could / would produce some better times, but might take a lot of modifying to really get it all together and might ruin the car altogether from a true street car perspective. Like Steve pointed out, this is not a 69 Chevelle. The computer chips are all integral to the overall system. Yea, if you can get into the power band (about 6,000) quicker, as with the 3.73, you will probably ultimately get better times, but one might need wider tires too, then the computer is freaking out, the 12 mpg, and the wear on the engine because one is always running at about 4 to 5 K on the tach. I am going to leave my car alone. It is such a sweet driving vehicle, with performance that will allow competion with most any vehicle, win or lose.
Good luck to those that choose to mod the rear gear and lets here your stories, good and/or bad.
Richard
