Question about gas mileage

Whats up guys...I just got my SRT8 last weekend, and have been driving mostly in the suburbs...not constant stop and go, but not highway driving... anyway, i am only averaging 11.5 mpg...i knew gas mileage was going to be bad, but i didnt realize it was going to be this low...sticker said 14-20...anyone have any info or knowledge as to whether this is going to get better over time, or stay the same...thanks...

Thumbs up

If the car is brand new, that is quite normal. Ours was in the 12-13mpg range for the first 1500 miles or so. Once the miles come on it gets considerably better. Now the wife is getting 17.5 in her daily commute. It has about 4200 miles now.

Hi

I would not worry about the gas mileage, it is really okay, I drive a fair bit, 25000k in 4 months, in imperial I get a low of 18 in town, average 23 when pushing it over 90 and at steady 65 27 to 28. not bad for 425 hp

Welcome and congrats on your purchase of a fine pure bread beast!!

Gas MPG will go up as well as power (as reported by many driver’s and their “butt dynos”) when the miles pile on…….now get out there and drive your beast!

I always reset when I get on the freeway...
and with me diriving...
I was getting 23.4 on the freeway this morning...
around the neighborhood - stop and go - it was 13.5

yes...
no problem...
just don't read...
as I'll never change...

it is a forum...
it is not a book...
it is done for a reason...
short and sweet comments...
no additional useless words to "finish" off the sentence to complete it...
if I am writing a novel for readers to buy, I'll do it...
and if it were for school to be read by a professor for a grade I would as well...
and since I am not doing either...
it'll stay this way forever...
that's what makes boards unique...
you don't have to follow a specific way of doing things...
kinda like mod's...

but thanks for the comments...
everyone is entitled to their opinion's...
no harm, no foul taken...

and you can honestly blame e-kool for the ... "dots"
why???
because you cannot have less than 10 characters in a post on this site...
thus the "dots"...
as they are eay to do to finish a one or 2 word post...
and since I am used to it after almost 2,900 posts...
it stays...
blame him...

Sincerely,
cbutler32

and that is what someone here told me once as well...
who was or either currently is (I cannot remember) an english teacher...
he liked the format...
said it built up the suspense in the story...

if you are new...
go back and do a search for some of these stories...
type in "a long and winding road"
stretch it out to one year on the search...
as these are from my trip back across the country last year...

sorry to hijack...
ok back on thread topic...
my lowest mpg I ever saw was 6.7 around town...
danrealtor got 4.3 or something close to that when he was at the track last year...
and someone quoted a 3.4 on one of the SRT track experience cars...
