Along with other things, it resets the adaptive transmission.
Basically if your MPG’s are high, you might want to pull the 11 fuse after the car is warm, and the car is OFF. Leave it out for about 15+ seconds, and put it back it.
Next time you drive the car you’ll feel it being a little more anxious to go.
Pulling it will not drop your fuel economy, its self. The way you’ll want to drive it will.

Pulling the battery cable would accomplish the same thing and a lot more (mostly undesirable) items. There are postings about what to do when you pull the cable to reset everything that needs to get reset - a PITA.

Fuse 11 (as fnkychkn mentioned) removes power from the PCM. All of the data persisted in the adaptive memory is cleared.

Also, for those of you on this board who don't know who fnkychkn is, he is a well respected LX Technician on the LXForums board.

And for those of you who know who fnkychkn is, he is still a well respected LX Technician on the LXForums board.

Well that may be the case, but just to play devil's advocate the service manual clearly states to "disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable." for even simple things like replacing a fog light.

Just pointing out that it should be a common thing to do.

I know when I've been in for service they've reset everything for me.

I never have removed the neg cable myself (even when changing bulbs. ) but I'd like to know what kinds of PITA things it would do besides reset my clocks and presets.

The reset procedure and discussion can be found here. Pulling fuse 11 is a whole lot simpler than going thru the reset procedure, just to clear the adaptive memory.

My $0.02.

There is also a fuse 11 in the trunk fuse box, should I do the one under the hood? The one in the trunk is quite a robust fella...

Go back to your other thread. I posted a link so you can locate where to pull fuse 11 and which one it is.

That's the lawyers talking. They tell you go disconnect the negative cable for simple things like that to avoid liability. Certainly if you are working with a "hot" wire (i.e. changing the alternator or something like that) where there is a chance you could short out the electrical system you should disconnect the negative battery cable first. But for changing bulb? c'mon..... I just had the leaky tranny o-rings replaced on my "C" and the TSB said to disconnect the battery first.....I guarantee you they didn't do that at the dealer becasue all my radio pre-sets were still set, as was my seat and steering wheel positions.

If you disconnect the battery you may have to re-set MDS (a non issue for SRT8 owners), reprogram power windows, and reset all the obvious stuff like seat memory, pedals, steering wheel, mirrors, radio presets, etc.
