Ok, that's what I thought you meant.

Yeah, about every 10k miles or so you should loosen 2 clamps, and pop off the filter. Takes about 30 seconds longer than the stock filter.

rinse it with slow running water (non-pressurized.) Let it dry, then spray the oil evenly on the outside and replace.

It's a snap.

I've had K&N replacements in my vehicles for years. Personally I'd rather spend the time cleaning them than buying a new paper filter every 10k miles (which nobody does and is supposed to.) The Mopar filter is good for 1,000,000 miles.

How difficult is it to install? It looks pretty straight forward.
It is VERY easy to install. VVV90 wrote a nice How To guide:
http://www.300cforums.com/forums/faq...stall-how.html
It took me about an hour, but I am very slow and stand back to admire my work every few minutes. That's what happens as you get older, you tend to smell the roses more!
I elected to remove the whole stud (vvv's pic #7 in the guide) as it's sole purpose is to secure the sound box, which you remove anyway. Looks cleaner without an empty stud sticking out.

I am going to also. I put the nut back on the stud and I looked at it last night and it's starting to rust on the points where my socket wore the cheap coating off. Now it's gotta go.

no noisier than the stock air cleaner at idle.. you only hear it while accelerating somewhat hard, and hear all of it at WOT...

Install is a sinch, if VVV90 could do it then you have nothing to worry about..

Ha ha ha, very funny.

Seriously though, like I said in the tech-tip, on a difficulty scale of 1-10 it's a negative -2.

As far as unpleasant cabin noise, there is NONE. I can still listen to all my tunes, or have a conversation.

I like the Mopar CAI, and would do it again.

Gotta agree with Steve on the observations after installing the CAI... the install is extremely simple, just take care with the removal of the air temp sensor. Loosening that little booger was the toughest part of the install.

Did anyone have any problems with any warnings on the dash (check engine light, etc) after installing the CAI? If so, what was the problem and solution.

I just picked up my Mopar CAI for my 06 300C. I plan on installing it today.

As long as you install the IAT sensor back in the tube undamaged it's not going to throw any engine codes. It's not an invasive mod at all.

I just finished installing my new Mopar CAI on the 5.7L 300C. It was pretty easy. I had a little difficulty plugging the air temp sensor into the rubber grommet of the tube. It kept popping the grommet out. I finally dabbed a little saliva on it and it finally went in. I hope you don't have to clean the filter very often. You have to loosen all 4 pipe clamps to remove it. Anyone know how often it needs cleaning?

Now, enough with the installation, let's get to the road testing. WOWOWOWOW. what a great sound and feel. I loved when I got my first C in November of '04, after having 4 and 6 bangers forever, to hearing that low gutteral growl of a big V8 was music. But with this Mopar CAI the sound is just plain furocious. As you said, Steve, the seat of the pants tells me there is a difference, whether it is just throttle response, shifting, the added sound or whatever, I think there is something to this CAI other than a great sound.

I took it on an on ramp and floored it, it was cool watching the heads turn of the people I am merging into. There was a maroon Charger R/T about three cars ahead of me and I wanted to catch up to him so badly and demo the sound, but could not get by the traffic before my exit.

The weather is nice here in KC so I had my windows and sunroof down enjoying the sound and decided to hear what it sounded like with the cockpit sealed up. It sounded like the car did before installing the CAI at highway speeds. However, I tried turning on the auto A/C, but nothing happened, no air at all. I could get the air to blow when I turned the fan speed up manually and took it off auto, but the A/C would not work, no cold air. Oh f#@$% I broke something!!!! I had been thrashing the car pretty well and I know some electrical gremlins can be exercised by parking and turning off the car for a few minutes. I parked and the auto A/C and compressor came back on with no problems. I guess since the engine was getting pushed so hard, the computer shut down the compressor to keep it from being damaged or to allow more power to be sent to the wheels. Anyway, all is good again.

Thanks for all of the advice and have a great weekend.

Nice work Dan. . . Sure didn't waste any time getting that done!

I have not had any error codes, but check out this thread. . .it discusses a total reset to get the computer to a base level and then it can adjust for the new CAI etc etc.

http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/...ad.php?t=16093

I have NOT done this yet, but will this weekend when detailing for the the Route 66 show next weekend.

Later dude.
