Tire upgrade

I've been researching upgrading the tires on my ordered srt to something wider, but still using the stock rim.

somewhat unsure about sizing. the 275/40/20 is the virtual exact O.D. as the stock 18 inch tires on the 300c, and have seen quite a few members running this same set up on magnums and 300c's with no problems.

the 245/255 set up on the srt8 is a few mm less in O.D.

also the 275 come only in summer tread patterns, and I would prefer an all season tire.

if I can only get summer tires, then I may be "forced" to get a second set of rims and run a staggered 275/295 set up...that would be terrible.

I assume you ordered the all season tire upgrade on the SRT-8, right? The zero-cost fourth option?
Just curious, but why do you want to widen the tires, but not change the rims?

Why not pimp and go 22" for the summers... if you're gonna get a second set of rims run the winter tires on stock rims and get some new dubs with wider tread to get off those 255 pizza cutters

(yes, this is tongue in cheek in part because I did the same thing on a 1987 Ferrari 328 - went with a slightly wider than stock tire because it improved handling and gave the front a little more bite to help wrestle the understeer out of the car a bit more... more width = more tread = more grip = less push in the front for that car at least)

But seriously - I wouldn't buy a second set of the OEM rims if I went for a second set of rims on this car

The 20x9 are perfect for me in illinois and taking the car to the car wash, but the 245's/255's are entirely undersized to my eyes.

275's are the minimum on the rear that I would go.

I have 22's on my wifes armada, and I just cant imagine that huge rim on a car, without being exposed to curb/carwash damage.

love the look, but not practical for me

would love to find some nice 20x9 and 20x10 staggered rims for the summer and use the all season 245's on the factory rims for the winter.

I've got 22" on my C and I'm thinking I'll stick with the factory setup. They know better than I on hi-po car. The C was a doll that I dressed up, this will be my race doll. In speaking with a tuner, we should be able to see 500 HP no problem.

Until someone make those sizes there are a few All Season SUV tires in size 275/40/20. Nothing wrong with running different tires front and back. I used Dunlop 9000 front and Nitto 555 rear on my E55.

Only car I've ever put through a car wash is a white Saturn wagon... sure can't make that thing any uglier...

I used to love to wash my car, even had my garage heated and had hot water run so I could wash all winter, but this Turtle wax place does the inside and out, runs the mats into this special machine, and even armor alls the tires.

I would do a better job myself, but I can take all three kid and my wife and bang out both cars in 30 minutes on a sunday morning...done

back on topic.

toyo proxi st's come in a 275/40-20 and are rated for m+s or all season. looks like I'll just stick with the factory rims
