My brake photos

With the exception of my front left which seems to show grooving along the outer edges of the rotor, they seem to be wearing fine and don't squeak or squeal. If I want free replacement under the TSB I need to do it in the first year or 12,000 miles right?

Do you think I should try to sweet talk my service manager into ordering them anyway or just stick with what is working very well right now. They are very dusty though, but I wash my car 2-3 times a week so I can deal with cleaning them...for now anyway.

Eric

I had more than 12k when they did the TSB on my rotors and there are plenty of others that did the same. It seemed to be up to the dealership on if they would do it or not. I would go ahead and have the TSB done. Besides the slotted rotors look siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!

I think they look fine. But I don't know how anyone can live without C-Tek pads. I was going through a whole pack of rags in one week...each week! Now I go through one rage a month. That is no joke.

Put some C-Teks on that thing and use the California Duster instead of washing all the time. Look at your wheels, they are already showing the small scratches from the brake dust and constant maintenance.

Think of all the time you would have on your hands. You could actually go and drive it more, LOL.

That was the pattern of my rotors.

Eric that was the same pattern that my rotors had and I only had 1550 miles on them. I got new rotors today but no new pads which I didn't care because I have a full set of C-Tek pads.

I have the slotted rotors being installed today. Will I still need C-Teks to eliminate the brake dust? Do you feel with your C-Tek Pads you get the same stopping power?

Yes, I can confirm the stock pads on slotted rotors = mucho dusto. I'm waiting for a set of pads with near same stopping power, endurance and low dust. One of the ones in the monster long thread was it but if memory serves me correctly they are out of stock at the moment. Forget which one it was though.

Dealer did slotted rotors and put on Posi-Quiets a few days ago (free-tsb). After bedding, the brake dust reprieve is true. Stopping takes a lot more pedal force than stock pads for same result- oh well.

Good trade-off for no black wheels? - yup.

I am at 11,500 and took mine to the stealership yesterday to inquire about the rotors. I had a copy of the TSB. The service writer made a photocopy of it and told me to come back on Thursday so that the service manager could put it on the lift and look at it. The service writer said he didn't want to make the call himself because the manager "doesn't like it" when they do warranty work without him approving it first.

This doesn't sound good. My rotors look similar to Eric's. We will see on Thursday if they will do the right thing.
