Will the SRT-8 have the Multi-Displacement System (MDS)?

I think I read on a site a while back about the MDS being not only on the 5.7L V8 but the SRT-8 as well. I don't know the site.

SRT-8 also use premium 91 octane gas instead of 89 octane like the 5.7 MDS Hemi. This car needs a larger gas tank - 19 gallons will ruin all cross country trips stopping for gas every 250 miles. Put in a 21 gallon fuel tank and maybe 300 between fill-ups.

Is that a fact or are you just guessing/assuming? I can't see why they'd take them out of a sedan - i mean it's a family truckster... better have them in back for my kid at least....

The center console is the same. I think Joe was making an attempt at humor. Joe keep your day job!

For perspective, I could only go about 300 miles in my RX8 6spd manual.

Something tells me that RX-8 had a slightly smaller tank than 19 gallons. :-)

Nope - MDS is gone: new "tuning" of the larger Hemi would not allow them to keep it.

No MDS on the SRT-8

Redman is correct:

Cool

No MDS, on the SRT8? 91 octane gas? Well... boys and girls, when trading time comes around I will not be getting the SRT8 model. For the extra operating cost, I do not need the extra ponies that much. I like the economy of the MDS and the ability to use 87 or 89 octane fuel. The 345 H.P. 300C is good enough for me.

I hope others agree.

As a future SRT-8 owner, the fewer SRT-8s on the road the better. If a couple of extra bucks for gas a month makes that big a difference perhaps it's best they stick with the 'C'.

SRT-8:
EPA City/Hwy(est): 14/19mpg

300C:
EPA City/Hwy: 17/25mpg

I'll take the extra HP with a side of torque please.
