I will call no one here a 'hater' as used not in pop culture but street slang.
DCX is and will get FREE advertisment anywhere it can including letting a very high profile 'artist' be the "first". DCX as well as the high-end vehicles i.e. Bently, Ferrari, Maybach etc. are given this publicity through the purchase by celebertits(MTV cribs, Pimp my Ride, BET's How I'm living, Overhaul, Car Crazy any the countless other shows etc. out there) As they are the first to buy the cars(see Wyclef Jean's and others stables) some of these guys are on par with the likes of Jay Leno when it comes to their purchases. JayZ was the first with a Maybach. Money talks as well as the free publicity.
Let's see how many will now buy the Charger because of not just 50 but NASCAR etc.
If 50 sells to the hip hop generation then why not, why shouldn't DCX take up the offer??
I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone, but for the people who think that DM has been making 'bonehead marketing decisions'. . . YOU HAVE GOT TO BE OUT OF YOUR MIND!!!!
DM knows exactly what they're doing. They already have people like us on the forum who are 'rapped up' (no pun intended) in the bold features of these vehicles coming out. All they are trying to do is extend the interest of their vehicles to all varieties of consumers because 'it's all about the benjamins' to them.
Of course Farrari isn't going to just make an exception for some celebrity. They aren't trying to mass produce and sell hundreds of thousands of their vehicles. I give 'mad props' to DM b/c they are reaching out to a more diverse customer base and creating an interest in their vehicles to a culture who normally wouldn't have that interest. BTW, the CEO, COO, and CFO aren't there b/c they are stupid.
Ya know, there was a CEO in charge of the company that decided not to fireproof the Pinto, John Delorean was a CEO who thought a massive coke deal could save his company, etc.
Just funnin, but some of the stupidest things ever done came out of corporate boardrooms, remember NEW coke?

Don't forget guys, 50 Cent was the first one to have a 300C before Snoop which was featured on MTV Cribs way back in the beginning of last year. And another 300C was featured in the G Unit video which Dub Magazine got.

Mike, I disagree, not with your analysis, but with DC's dollar placement. Why hype marketing when:
You've won every award a car can win;
Every owner is telling anyone who asks (and some who don't) how great their car is;
You are selling every unit you are building, even before the SRT-8 and the Charger go on the same assembly line. And the line can only move so fast.
IMO, DC would be wise spending those millions of marketing bucks training up their service techs and generally improving their dealer network.

Dollar placement?? This is free!! Even if 50 get's a $35K car and another $35K to mod it. The publicity will be well worth it. There seems to be several members who might be influenced by the hip-hop culture as they will also add to DCX's coffers. DCX is putting little to no money for this kind of advertisement!
Again, 50 is the video phenom for the minute. He and Calvin(Snoop) as well as others are one more reason(out of many) why the car is selling so well. As I asked in another post how long will it last? As I believe in two to three years the true admirers will separate ourselves from the pack.
Has there ever been a car (300c namely, Magnum, Charger) to be so diverse as to the attract such a wide variety of owner's? I certainly can't think of one.
It's because of the diverse market appeal this car is doing so well, from the celebs, to the gray hairs/boomers, to the X gen, and the 18-24 crowd - it doesn't matter who you are, where you're from or how old you are - this car has appeal!
I've had countless people literally stop in their tracks walking on the sidewalk and stare at my car as I drive by - from 8 years old to 80. There is a Cool Vanilla C driving around town here with a blue haired lady that must be at least 70-75!! COOL!
If DCX wants to market to the "street" crowd by giving one to 50 - no big deal in my book. Those that don't follow that seen will only read about it on the boards anyway, and IMO they will get way more than their money's worth in advertising. Hell, maybe DCX should give 60 of them to Oprah to give away!! People were talking about that for months! They will market these cars in any and every way they can.
**The only negative comment I've had so far is from my wife - she said it was "an old man's car". My reply? yeah..whatever, you can drive your Explorer (and she hasn't ever asked to drive it to this day)...
