Supercharged Cadillac STS-V

I came up on one of the new Cadillac STS-V, supercharged V8's yesterday. As hard as I tried I couldn't get this guy to play. Has anybody else checked one out?

Evidently the STS-V has a slightly smaller 4.4 litre, down from their 4.6, but has the supercharger added. They are claiming 469 HP, but the tests show the SRT taking it. (see below)

I have attached the link below from autoweek where they had a great quote about " maybe the Cadillac engineers should visit the SRT folks to see how it is done for 35K less"

If anyone has gotten one of these to "play", let me know. I would love to hear how they run against the SRT for almost double the money.

"DEPRECIATION
After one year: $18,817
Five-year total: $43,991"

WHoa!!!

That's the entire cost of an SRT8.

No thanks.

I test drove one and was not that impressed. The car did not justify the 71k sticker. It had good acceleration and handling, but not any better than an SRT8. The cabin was cramped and I could never find a comfortable seat position. The interior materials were a let down considering it was supposed to be a Cadillac as well.

Another downside was that it's exterior styling is more in tune with the usual bland sedans that have taken over the roads these days. Our 300s have a distinct style that stands out! Just my impressions.

Saw a couple on my big recent road trip to Rhode Island. I wasn’t impressed with the styling and who ever was driving one of them was stuck in the slow lane going -45 and holding up the works! Why oh why did they buy such a car to only drive it BELOW interstate posted speed limits?

From what I gather, if you get a chance to race one from a dig, DO IT. These cars have a terrible wheelhop issue and if the driver actually does get a good launch and gets it to hook up, he's likely to blow out the rear differential. That's just what I've picked up from the threads I've read. I've seen a couple in my C but they just don't want to play...

I was able to test drive an STS-V in Las Vegas at GM's "The Drive." It didn't feel faster than the SRT8 and it definitely didn't handle better. The ride might be more comfortable but I didn't get an extended drive. The course they had lets you floor it for a couple hundred feet and then it's a slalom.

It is a very nice car for sure. The interior is a lot better... but $30K+ better... I dunno. I do like that they come with run flats though. What a concept that would've been for our cars... since we have no spare.
