ESP Switch Question

I have seen some ads refering to a 3 position ESP switch. It's either on or off and that's 2 positions. What am I missing?

Ahhhh, Grasshopper, not so fast, wisdom comes now.

Press and hold your ESP button for about 6-8 seconds, and you will find the third mode, ESP Disabled Becuase OFF< contrary to whats logical, isnt really OFF, it reduces trigger values to either %20 of normal, or by %20, Ive never gotten a straight answer on which it is. I suspect its down to %20 of normal.

Hold ESP button down 7 seconds

The third position is acheived by holding the ESP button down for about 7 seconds. Your dash computer will send an audible sound and the dash will read something to the effect "ESP Off", in addition to the normal dash light that shows a vehicle sliding, bottom right.

Try holding down 7 seconds to get full off. There is still probably a little ESP on at this point too, but if you leave it in first gear on manual shift mode you can essentially spin the tires unlimited as the engine will bounce off the rev limiter and keep spinning, a lot of fun!

Also, all of my best 0 - 60 times, and quarter mile, are in this mode. While you will learn to launch the car with little wheel spin in full ESP off, you will get maximum performane. Dont get me wrong, with ESP on I have about 13.5 quarter, but 12.93 with full off mode.

Go try it and have fun, but dont wreck your car, it can get a little squirly!

i tried it and i did get a ding, but really cant tell a difference when i go to run it.. i ran the other day with a charger rt and he was keeping up with me dont know if its due to the 22" rims or what.... we stopped and he claimed it was due to the weight of the rims and tires on my car....

Sorry but true. Unless the wheel & tire weight of the replacements are less than or equal to stock you will be slowed down. The best way to go in order to save weight is forged wheels. Get you wallet ready though because they are not cheap.

This only works on cars manufactured after ~ 8/1/05. I believe 7/15/05 is the actual date.

Negative on this being exclusive to SRTs, my '06 C has this feature. I use it quite often
