'Ran a series of 4.34s, 3 or 4 of them, Saturday evening in the process of verifying I was race-ready, and burning down the fuel load a bit more. And this was *truly* race ready - pax & rear seats removed, trunk emptied of course, and drag radials properly warmed up.
Had slightly earlier, on street tires, fully loaded trunk - your standard daily-driver configuration - turned a number of 5.32s with a pax (ASU_Magnum) filming it all with BradKaye's movie cam.
Show's to go you what removing 300 pounds and running 25.5" drag radials will do - nearly a full second reduction in 0-60 as a result of the combined effects of reduced weight, lower effective gearing, and increased traction.
I was using the sc tuner's built in computer, which is notoriously conservative. Times would likely have been .2 to .3 quicker with my properly set up and calibrated Escort G-Timer II, a more precise instrument.
I've gotta add that the street configuration B&G-flash inspired runs immediately followed a similar series of runs with my superchips tuner-flashed original ECM. The best runs with it were in the mid 4.6s, with most in the 4.8s, with at least one over 5 seconds. All duly recorded on video cam.
While 3 to 5 tenths quicker is nothing to sneeze at, the difference between the sc tuner and B&G flash times would have been significantly greater had I been able to control wheel spin. My just-received, third time flashed, B&G tune has truly unleashed the beast in my sweet vanilla C. ASU_Magnum and I were both astounded at the difference the new B&G flash made from the moment the key was turned. The rough idle with the sc tuner, which required two-footing it at intersections to keep the idle smooth is now smooth as silk. Smoother, even, than when stock.
Dave Kasper of B&G Chrysler Specialists truly hit this one out of the park.
Kudos to you David.
EDITED TO ADD:
And, just in case you were wondering, Sunday?
Running 6 12.97s@109 corrected, 13.0s@107 outright, with one 13.1 in there as the odd ball, we put 'em all on trailer. This includes a number of 12-second cars (DA was 1500'), several of them by 7 or 8 car lengths at the traps.
The only rides that were quicker yesterday afternoon made a whole lot of racket and can't be driven on the street.
All - Excellent points and tips, particularly re. launch technique. Once your car is making good power simply stabbing the throttle instantly to the floor will not give you your best results. Read prior posts for the finesse details - well done.
