them's good old fashioned miles per hour! None of your metric crap. At least the US and UK have proper distance measurements for speed. Mind you, its a damn sight less comlicated putting Ltrs in your car. Saves us tyring to tell you its actually 4 and a bit ltrs fo a proper gallon, not 3.8 and a bit litres like you all use!

I had around 20 or less ltrs in the car and just me in it when i got that time. And I only did 4.3 once, i did get a few under 5 and a few in the 5's. but we have wet weather here now, so its gonna be a few months before i can find a road with better traction and the right conditions to see weather I can even match that time again. Plus the tyres will be less grippy by then.

All OBD2 cars are equipped with accelerometers in the computer that measure G's on several axes, and time to a few different distances. It can tell you braking G's, braking time and distance 60-0, lateral G's, 0-60 time, 1/4 mile times and speed, and how hard you hit whatever it is you hit. It's kind of a big brother thing, or could be. In a GM equipped with OnStar, the computer could potentially call GM and tell them that you were spinning tires, racing, braking inordinately repeatedly, and so on. Kind of scary to me, but then again, I may bury a school bus and taunt the FBI. I wish my display told me stuff..... damnit.

just good traction and luck, plus very little fuel in.

When i started to try hard it started to lose traction and they came over 5 seconds then. Plus the tyres are in good condition at the moment.

With 1980kgs, you really need to keep the fuel low and have nobody esle in the car. I wiegh 75kg if thats any use to you. I would be surprised if a srt with 2 people in could do it under 5seconds. My AMG did 4.82 with 2 people in. when we tested the other persons car, it did 6.7 with both of us in, and 6.2 with just her in. that was using a G-Tech meter. I was on the same road doing it with this. I never tested my AMG by myself as i was struggling with traction that day too. but with my weight i would guess that would do 4.4 - 4.6 or thereabouts and that had 399bhp.

one other thing. you really need to try to not get wheelspin. any thing other than perfect traction tends to eat into the time. and it doesn't take much to drop from 4.6 to 5.2

I found my best time was to take the foot off the brake and apply it gentle to the throttle and then start to press down progressively. I was full throttle at the point it changed to 2nd. when i pressed harder i started to induce wheelspin.

When i get some time in the nice weather i will see if i can get somewhere near these times again. I should be taking the car to a runway around February. This place has good traction so later on in the day when the tyres are warm and the fuel is low we may beat it. should find out its top speed too.

mind you,. i have just thought of something. Why not do it down hill! If i can think of one that i can use near me, i may give that a go. might see a sub 4 second 0-60 if we are lucky. I wonder if downhill you want more fuel in the help with gravity?

My quickest time thus far has been with two people and still a little spin (4.94) i will try to get a best this weekend. Maybe try a different road surface.

Arrow B&G-flashed ECM enables 4.34s - my secret weapon

'Ran a series of 4.34s, 3 or 4 of them, Saturday evening in the process of verifying I was race-ready, and burning down the fuel load a bit more. And this was *truly* race ready - pax & rear seats removed, trunk emptied of course, and drag radials properly warmed up.

Had slightly earlier, on street tires, fully loaded trunk - your standard daily-driver configuration - turned a number of 5.32s with a pax (ASU_Magnum) filming it all with BradKaye's movie cam.

Show's to go you what removing 300 pounds and running 25.5" drag radials will do - nearly a full second reduction in 0-60 as a result of the combined effects of reduced weight, lower effective gearing, and increased traction.

I was using the sc tuner's built in computer, which is notoriously conservative. Times would likely have been .2 to .3 quicker with my properly set up and calibrated Escort G-Timer II, a more precise instrument.

I've gotta add that the street configuration B&G-flash inspired runs immediately followed a similar series of runs with my superchips tuner-flashed original ECM. The best runs with it were in the mid 4.6s, with most in the 4.8s, with at least one over 5 seconds. All duly recorded on video cam.

While 3 to 5 tenths quicker is nothing to sneeze at, the difference between the sc tuner and B&G flash times would have been significantly greater had I been able to control wheel spin. My just-received, third time flashed, B&G tune has truly unleashed the beast in my sweet vanilla C. ASU_Magnum and I were both astounded at the difference the new B&G flash made from the moment the key was turned. The rough idle with the sc tuner, which required two-footing it at intersections to keep the idle smooth is now smooth as silk. Smoother, even, than when stock.

Dave Kasper of B&G Chrysler Specialists truly hit this one out of the park.

Kudos to you David.

EDITED TO ADD:
And, just in case you were wondering, Sunday?

Running 6 12.97s@109 corrected, 13.0s@107 outright, with one 13.1 in there as the odd ball, we put 'em all on trailer. This includes a number of 12-second cars (DA was 1500'), several of them by 7 or 8 car lengths at the traps.

The only rides that were quicker yesterday afternoon made a whole lot of racket and can't be driven on the street.

All - Excellent points and tips, particularly re. launch technique. Once your car is making good power simply stabbing the throttle instantly to the floor will not give you your best results. Read prior posts for the finesse details - well done.

Yes, very good point. I found that the 2 different roads surfaces on the stretch of road i used gave very different results. The older, seemingly more rough gave a better traction, where as the newer, quiter section which was certainly smoother and nicer to drive on, has the wheels spinning. Even empty from rest on this newer bit, i could not get traction that would even see a low 5 second time. Maybe the oils were still nearer the surface.

I cant say how old either road surface was, but it makes a significant difference. Some areas in this country have now put stretches of ultra grippy road surface in certain places, but mainly as a safety aid, so they are on approaches to busy traffic lights from major, higher speed roads and towards roundabouts that we have to help block up the roads round here. They help when braking hard.

If I can find a bit of that near a flat striaght stretch thats got a speed limit where i can get away with trying this I will.

New time. Not as impressive as some of you, but it's comin down, and was no where near WOT on launch. Spun just enough for me to hear it then hooked, then WOT.
