Slow Cruise Control Resume

Has anyone noticed that when you press the resume button on your cruise the car slowly eases back up to speed? This morning I was being very lazy and running the car with just the cruise control. (Highway only) I had to slow down to 40 and then hit resume. It took the car a while to get back up to the 80 I had it set at. In all the other cars that I’ve had with cruise when I clicked on resume the sucker just floored it (actually downshift and hit it) until it was back to the set speed. I just happen to notice on the SRT8 there is no flooring it back up to speed. Is this a safety precaution as they don’t want SRT’s being floored by unsuspecting drivers? Anyone else notice this?

Hey Danno,

Yeh, I noticed the same thing on mine. I do a lot of interstate driving daily, so I'm on and off the cruise a lot. It is somewhat annoying, when you hit "resume" its almost like you missed a gear on the restart as traffic piles up behind you. Maybe someone knows of a fix for this.

I thought it was just my car!

my guess would have to be something along the lines of trying to conserve gas?

Well according to your own admission you don’t drive very fast and cruise only operates at speeds above 40…..so there you have it. Of course you’re not going to use it as you don’t drive above 40 mph.

Hrmm, maybe it's the 07s but when I hit my resume the radio flashes a message about why I'm trying to keep it at only 100mph... then something about being a wuss and where I should go to trade in my car...

I don't think he meant that ... my cruise control works down to 25. I set it at say 25 or 30 and forget it, when driving thru a residential area. But when I take a right angle corner I guess the traction control kicks in and applies the brakes, because usually the cruise goes off when I take a sharp corner at speed.

I should play around with this, with the traction control off, to test my hypothesis!

I've noticed the same thing in my regular C. I actually prefer it to the WOT back to the set speed like other cars I've owned.

I didn't know that, danno. Good find and I'll have to check that out. I love using cruise, and I'm always fighting to get it back to where I was...now you are saying I don't need to do that. Learn something new on here every day.
