With the SRT8 it's only a matter of time. I got a ticket with mine on the second day I owned it!!!
Eric
Oh, come on!
It doesn't take an SRT8 to be able to do 85 MPH. Overdoing it at the wrong time and place is what will get you in trouble. If you're going break the speed limit, no matter what you drive, you will eventually get nailed.
And when it's my turn I am going to have to laugh because I've been getting away with it for decades while driving 80 - 115 horsepower four bangers, a 130-horsepower wee-six minvan, a 168-horsepower 400-cid V8 grocerygetter, and now the 340-horsepower 300C HEMI daily-driver, or the really big toy 442 horsepower supercharged 4.6L DOHC Cobra. Even my 100-horsepower, 51-year old, flathead V8-powered Ford can exceed 85 MPH easily.
DRIVE ON!
I said on my drive north to Rhode Island (last week) the cops were as thick as thieves. My buddy and I kept saying they all needed Christmas presents or something. As soon as someone would pass us BAM they would get pulled. I just tried to stay with traffic and not be the fastest one out there…..but it was the tensest drive with cops I’ve had in a long while. They were using everything too….like an old Intrepid for a cop car…no marks, dents, but plenty of power to sting!
I’m very sorry you got a ticket as it really sucks. You can always go to court and hope they don’t show up and if they do say your record has been clean for so many years you want them to not give you points….just pay the fine. Maybe. Good luck!

Court doesn't always work out too well in Ohio. My wife got screwed by a local townie trap at a now infamous intersection. She was cited for a redlight violation (running the light). She has sworn to this day it was NOT red and barely turned yellow when just going under it. Long story short, we challenged and had it sent to court. Did our research, took pictures, documented the scene, questioned the cop and via his own statements mathematically PROVED she could not have done was he claimed without other cars having run into her. (Long story but we were VERY meticulous with our questioning) End result, same fine + court costs and points. It's a joke. And the best part, after the whole thing, a few weeks later that exact spot had a BUNCH of bad press for similar "questionable" incedents. It's asinine that the average joe has no chance in the cases where they truly are innocent. I'll stop my rant now... I feel a little better for venting!
Where I live, you first have to request a court date to make a plea.
So I went to court and pleaded not guilty.
The judge then sets another court date where the cop shows up.
My next court appearance is set for Jan 8.
I know I will lose, but there is always a slim chance the cop won't show.
I was caught speeding last week on the way to montreal. I was doing 93 in a 65 in N.H. He droped it down to 85 the total cost was 250.00 and it was not in the srt 8 it was the wifes suburban.Too many cops and i was bored now i'am paying for it.

I know if you get the date moved back a few times the officer might lose track. If he does and doesn't show you get off scott free. Also print out your driving record and present it to the judge. I got a ticket in VA but still had my NC drivers license. Everyone in VA was getting off because the judge had their driving record and said that they looked like good drivers. She asked me for mine when it was my turn and I didn't think to bring it so she didn't let me off. I had to pay the ticket and court costs, pretty dumb on my part. Oh well, lesson learned.
How do I get a date moved back? It sounds like a good game to play but how do I do it?

I'm told they do this because a big % of the speeding fine goes to the state, where as the municipality where the infraction occurs gets the lion's share of $$$ for other infractions. http://www.nysun.com/article/35993?page_no=1
What a great analysis and link, this is very useful. Thanks!

That is very interesting. Perhaps right now would be a good time to switch. I think AIG has raised our rates the past couple of years anyway. Do they do business in Connecticut?
DZeckhausen and crhemi, this is on my commute from work so even though it's in a different state -- I live in Connecticut -- it's convenient for me. It's the points I'm worried about not the fine.
Desiree it's true that any car can go the speed I was going. It's just that in the SRT8, it's hard to resist doing it all the time since it's so safe at the speed. In that car, all the rest of the traffic seems to slow down!
MrHappy I got a speeding ticket in California and the experience was as you describe. Court was a joke; I was guilty because the officer said I was. And in fact in Arizona I did get nailed for going thru a red light which was actually yellow when I entered the intersection but turned red before I got all the way thru. I was able to plead that to "traffic school" in which I learned that I had been in a traffic situation, though no fault of my own, where there was no legal course of action!
Ukyo Yoshiro I wonder if they have me on video like that. I don't know what evidence they have. The ticket (actually computer printout) says he got me by "visual observation", confirmed by "radar".
Good luck to all of you who are also facing tickets at this time. You have my best wishes.

You should be able to call the courts and request a new date. They should take you off that docket and place you on the next available. Just make some excuses about being out of country or something. Do it 2 or 3 times and then show up and hope the cop lost your stuff in the shuffle and either doesn't remember you and slips up in his testimony or doesn't come to court.
If my ticket was local I'd def fight it. Last time I got one I went down the the courthouse in Uniform (still a Marine at the time) and the DA busted down from 25 over to 5 over and I paid $50 and got no points. Most of the time when I was in I'd just show my Military ID and they'd let me go... except for this one cop that made me get out of my car and do Marine Corps pushups (4 count) for every mph I was going over (20 mph) and then let me tuck in behind him and we went 90 until his exit. I was hoping my Marine Corps plates would get me out of that ticket in Ohio last weekend, but that Cop was obviously a squid
