Thinking about buying an electric jack to keep in the trunk…1 or 2 ton jack?

I am thinking about getting an electric jack to keep in the trunk of my SRT8, to go with the spare SRT8 wheel/tire and needed hand tools. They seem to come in two lifting amounts: 1 ton and 2 ton. Would the 1 ton jack be good enough to lift the car on the side of the road and change a tire (if ever needed)?

It is an electric scissor type jack if anyone was wondering...

-thanks.

I'm interested as well. Can you give the link to where you've found them? If both fit under the car, I would spend the money on the 2 ton.

Just cruising ebay for now.
But later I am going to make the rounds at a few of the auto parts stores and Sam's.

Those little hydraulic 2-ton jacks are easy to use, small and fairly cheap. I'd recommend one of those.

I would get the two ton one to be on the safe side. Can never be too careful when lifting one of these babies!

I have seen these in the Heartland America catalog, for 59.99. go to the web site, and search for it. I'm thinking of getting one myself. I now have a small hydrulic floor jack that fits in the storage area, this will work ok, but the electric one might take up less space.

I bought an Aluminum OTC Nascar Jack for when I go Racing. Id like to know more about the Electric Jack for daily use, anyone have a link to the manufacturer?

Thanks Meech

More info:
the 1 ton has a clearance for 4.74"
and the 2 ton clearance is 5.5"

Is there 5.5" clearance on the jack locations?
