I owned up to it and I apologize to the other members for my mistake. You owe me an apology for accusing me of making up the entire experience passing it off as a lie. I suspect others also have an issue with your attitude on here.
i'm really not concerned with what the internet thinks of my attitude. look at my history and the ONLY reason my "attitude" can be questioned is because i ussually won't hesitate to call bullsh*t...and the people that have a problem with it simply don't like "getting made". regardless, those that have met me in real life are the ONLY ones justified in passing judgement.
i appreciate you owning up and i appologize for having some fun at your expense. it's rare that people admit to anything these days, especially on some of the other srt8 forums, so i have to give you props for that.

So true. As another who frequently speaks his mind... who cares. I'm not even concerned about the "real life" part. No one is qualified to pass judgement on another. And everyone assumes too much from a typed word!
Regardless, thanks Deuce for letting us all share your experience. I sat in one of these swoopy 4-doors at an auto show and was very un-impressed with the "compressed seating" interior. Way too small for me.
My own personal experience with three Benzes was not too good. They seem to have their own quality issues, and cost a fortune to own.

I finally have my software! Happy Diablo owner.
My Favorite "old car"... 73 Super Duty 455 Trans Am - 13.08 @109 mph when brand new! Just try and find one now!
Mercedes are wonderful cars- I did for a micromoment think about an E55...however, nostalgia-ness just played too big a role for me in this car purchase. The SRT8 just makes me feel good looking at it and driving it... Mercedes seems to sterile for me.. just cannot visualize myself in one.
Must be the red-neck muscle car guy in me....
Nice review thanks!

A few 'Stang owners on the forums call it butt-ugly. Also 350Z members (like they should talk!) but I agree, it's the most aggressively styled 4-door on the road.
Discussed my personal paddle problem with my pretty partner today while partaking in lunch.....
The paddles DO turn and THAT was the problem! When turning the wheel, you can get confused on which paddle is for upshifting and downshifting. It might be fine for broad turns/sweepers, but if you want to rocket out of a hairpin, you could mistakenly upshift AND/OR have the problem shifting WHILE the steering wheel is turning. That's the issue.
Well I haven't actually driven a paddle-shift car so I really was imagining what would be best. And I imagined that whatever was like Ferrari was probably the right way to do it. I'm 99% sure the paddles move with the wheel in Ferraris.
So I'm glad Benz does it the same way. Unlike Ferrari in such matters, I don't implicitly trust Benz. The paddles turning with the wheel is probably something you can get used to with a very small amount of experience. I guess that you might want to shift while turning a little, but you won't need to shift with the wheel cranked way over.
There were times that I would go around a corner while pushing the clutch and shifting, in my old 5 series or other less sporty stick shift cars long ago. But I could break that habit in exchange for losing the clutch.
I don't think I've ever seen a car with paddle shifters that move, I always noticed that on shows like Top Gear and wondered why they didn't move. The thing about accidentally shifting the wrong way sounds like a good reason to make them move, but I'm sure you would get used to it. I've changed the track on the cd and adjusted the volume before while the wheel was upside down without having to think much about it.
