I wouldn't think twice about using it for a "spare." For 60,000 miles, I'd match 'em up.

Sorry I got away from this for a while, Mungo404 is right about the height difference. The aspect ratio of 45 means the sidewall height is 45% of the width - so the rear 255s have a slightly higher sidewall height and therefore slightly larger diameter.

As far as whether or not this would lead to damage to the differential...so far we are all speculating that for a short time at lower speeds with this small of a difference it wouldn't. Anyone know for sure???

Oh - and do 255s rub in the front?
