2007 300 SRT-8 Speaker POP!

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who participate with advice and information for the rest of us. I just received the 2007 300 SRT-8 I ordered in September and so far I love it. I got all the options minus the DVD video for the back seat. As if anyone could need more entertainment then riding around in one of these screaming beasts! I am just glad when I started doing searches for basic modifications I came across this fantastic forum. I have already ordered a couple of mod's I found here like the center console and armrests from elite 22 (Can hardly wait to install them) and I also picked up a couple of SRT-8 visor stickers from Streamline Design. Some of you guys have great ideas that can easily be implemented at a fairly low cost to help dress up the looks of this beauty.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting is the Kicker 13 speaker sound system. I had been extremely happy with it until my wife put in one of her cd's and I heard a terrible POP from the rear speakers. Now I've played some songs with bass and I have also played some jazz and everything sounds great, but on a couple songs I get this sound almost like cracked woofers (Blown speakers). You play the next song which seems to have similar highs and lows and there is no problem. So I just don't get it. I have tried adjusting the balance and fader to isolate both rear speakers and it appears to be coming from them both. It occurs at volumes as low as 10, so it's not that I have them to loud. The tone that seems to be doing it is actually a higher bass sound, the lows hit well. I have read about the wire switch for the Subwoofer, although I think the Sub is hitting well. ( I thought Chrysler might have already remedied this issue with the 2007's, although they might have started a new issue) So does anyone out there have any ideas of what might be wrong or what I need to do? Thanks!

Hey Imagine it !.....congrats on your new SRT8 !.....the problem you are experiencing is starting to become more common....you are the first '07 300C SRT8 owner that i have heard having this problem....there are at least a dozen Charger SRT8 owners including myself that have been discussing this problem over at the Chargerforums.....it appears both '06 & '07 models are affected and the common feature is we all have the optional Kicker sound system including yourself.....no one has answers including some dealers and their techs....also no TSB so far....there are some theories to why this happens....check out Chargerforums.com and do a search for speaker problems....hope this helps you understand this problem some of us have....othetwise my Charger SRT8 is flawless with over 5000 kms....

enjoy your new ride !!

Just wanted to welcome you to the forums Imagine it! I’m not familiar with this particular Kicker problem. The only one discussed here at length was the reversed wire business of which you’ve already commented on. Sounds like you need to check out the Charger forums for some additional information. Let us know what you find out. I’ve not experienced this problem and I have the exact setup you have. Good luck!
